The Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Kapolda Sumut), Inspector General Whisnu Hermawan Februanto, S.I.K., M.H. stated that his party was ready to continue cooperation in improving human resources with Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra.
This was conveyed during a friendly visit to Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) on Wednesday (26/2). The Kapolda was accompanied by Irwasda Kombes Pol Nanang Masbudhi, S.I.K., M.Si, Dirintelkam, Kombes Pol Dwi Indra Maulana, Dirreskrimum, Kombes Pol Sumaryono, Dirsamapta, Kombes Pol Dwi Tunggal Jalardi and Karoops Polda, Kombes Pol Victor Togi Tambunan, S.H., S.I.K..
The visit which took place in the UMSU Meeting Room, Muchtar Basri Street No. 3, Medan, also discussed various programmes that could strengthen the synergy between the North Sumatra Police and UMSU in various fields, especially to support human resource development and create a better academic and social environment for the people of North Sumatra.
The arrival of the North Sumatra Police Chief and his staff was welcomed directly by the UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, together with the Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd., Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto, M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faisal, S.H., M.H, Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau, Dr. Ribut Priadi, M.IKom and Dr. Mujahidin, MSP.
In his remarks, the North Sumatra Police Chief expressed his pleasure at the warm welcome from UMSU. He said he wanted to discuss the importance of cooperation between the North Sumatra Police and UMSU, especially in supporting the government’s Asta Cita programme.
‘I am very happy to be able to visit UMSU and be welcomed wonderfully by the Rector and the Dean,’ said Kapolda.
Kapolda confirmed the commitment of the North Sumatra Police in supporting various community programmes run by UMSU.
‘We will support all UMSU programmes, especially those related to the community, we are ready,’ he added.
Then, the North Sumatra Police Chief highlighted cooperation in the field of human resource development (HR), especially for police officers who want to improve their academic abilities.
‘We hope that UMSU can provide special classes for police officers who want to develop their academic abilities,’ said the Kapolda.
He also reminded students to stay away from drugs, which are a serious threat to the younger generation.
‘Do not approach drugs, young people, because it will destroy the future. I am sure UMSU students are superior and intelligent children,’ he said in a broadcast on UMSU FM Radio.
In addition, the Kapolda emphasised the importance of collaboration in creating a safe and conducive environment in North Sumatra.
‘The Rector and I are committed to collaborating in forming excellent young people in North Sumatra, so that security and a conducive atmosphere can be maintained properly,’ he said.

Responding to this, UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, cooperation with the North Sumatra Regional Police is important in improving the quality of human resources.
‘Partnerships with Polda, Pangdam, and the ranks are very important to us. We are grateful that the programmes we design can work together with the North Sumatra Regional Police,’ said the Rector.
He also explained the various forms of collaboration that have been established between UMSU and the North Sumatra Regional Police, which began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and continued with various activities, public discussions, training, and joint book launches.
On this occasion, the Rector of UMSU also conveyed the progress of preparations for the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress, in which UMSU will host. He hopes that the North Sumatra Police can provide support in the smooth running of the big event.
‘We hope for full support from the North Sumatra Police in the implementation of the Congress and the construction of the UMSU integrated campus,’ said the Rector.
Furthermore, he conveyed UMSU’s readiness to support education for police officers. ‘We have prepared special programmes for police who want to continue their education at UMSU. Many police officers have taken part and are UMSU graduates. This is part of our contribution as a university,’ he added.
This visit ended with the handover of the North Sumatra Police Chief and UMSU Rector’s book and a tour of existing facilities such as studios, libraries and radios.
