The Muhammadiyah Central Leadership inaugurated Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, as Rector of UMSU for the period 2024-2026, as well as inaugurating the Committee for Receiving and Implementing the 49th Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Congress in 2027, which will be held in North Sumatra.
The inauguration process of UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP took place at the Auditorium of the UMSU Campus Jl. Kapt. Mukhtar Basri Medan, Saturday (18/5), went with wisdom marked by the reading of the Decree of PP Muhammadiyah on the Appointment of the UMSU Rector by the Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah H. Muhammad Izzul Muslimin, SIP.
After that, Prof. Agussani made the inauguration promise in the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Board of Higher Education and Research of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Achmad Jainuri, MA. Meanwhile, the committee’s inauguration began with the reading of the Decree of PP Muhammadiyah on the Reception and Implementation Committee of the 49th Congress by Prof. Dr. Agung Danarto, MAg.
In the decree that was read, PP Muhammadiyah appointed the Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah North Sumatra Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution as the person in charge, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP as chairman, Irwansyah, M.Ag as secretary and Prof. Dr. Akrim, MPd as treasurer of the 49th Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Congress committee.
Also present were the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si along with members of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Irwan Akib, M.Pd, H. Muhammad Sayuti, MPd, PhD, Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, MA, Chairman of PW Aisyiyah Sumut Dr. Nur Rahmah Amini, M.Ag, leaders of PDM, PDA in North Sumatra, leaders of Muhammadiyah branches and branches. Also present were UMSU Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, M.Hum, Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd, Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, MSi and Inspector General of Police Prof. Dr. Dadang Hartanto professors and UMSU academicians, Deputy DPRD North Sumatra Rahmansyah Sibarani and Muhammadiyah cadres who are also elected candidates in the 2024 Election.
On that occasion, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, MSi congratulated the Rector of UMSU Prof. Dr. Agussani and Muhammadiyah North Sumatra for being given the mandate and trust.
“On behalf of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership, I would like to congratulate the Rector, Prof. Agussani, and the Congress Committee. I was present as well as a witness. We believe that the mandate can be carried out as well as possible. We are also sure that both UMSU and Muhammadiyah North Sumatra will progress,” he said.
Before attending the inauguration ceremony of the UMSU Rector, Haedar Nashir and members of PP Muhammadiyah visited the location of the integrated UMSU campus and the 49th Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Congress.
Haedar Nashir expressed his confidence that implementing the 49th Congress would be better than the past Congress. PP Muhammadiyah gave the trust to be the organizer of the congress because it knew precisely not only the ability but also the great potential possessed by Muhammadiyah North Sumatra and all its charities, including UMSU so that it could carry out the highest consultative event in the new era.
“So we are sure, especially today, attended by PDMs throughout North Sumatra,” he said. Haedar Nashir also agreed and supported the enthusiasm conveyed by the Rector of UMSU and the Chairperson of PW Muhammadiyah to advance UMSU to become a world-class campus. Likewise, Aisyiyah, when willing to become a committee of the Congress, also wants to make Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah international.
According to Haedar Nashir, the great potential and joint efforts are not utopian because Muhammadiyah already has traces of potential capital in the journey of more than a century. Haedar Nashir advised the people of the organization to continue to form the wings of the movement considering the current social changes and burdens. In addition, he reminded us to transform the leadership aspect, which is no longer formalistic but movement leadership, so that it can see what is happening at the grassroots.
Previously, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP expressed his gratitude to PP Muhammadiyah for the trust given. The construction of the UMSU integrated campus in Sampali, as well as the location of the 49th Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Congress in North Sumatra, is inseparable from the UMSU roadmap to become a world-class university campus based on research and innovation. Now, UMSU is striving to be included in the QS Star world ranking. For this reason, according to Prof. Agussani, the 2027 Congress in North Sumatra will add to UMSU’s adrenaline to get to the world campus because the echo of the Congress is not only national but also international. Prof. Agussani hopes that the synergy of business charities and associations running must be improved as PP Muhammadiyah’s message.
Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, expressed his commitment in front of PP Muhammadiyah that Muhammadiyah North Sumatra is ready to carry out a better Congress than before.
