The UMSU Intellectual Property Management Center (PPKI) carried out activities to assist Intellectual Property Service Operational Standards for MSMEs on the UMSU Campus Wednesday (22/9).
Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin SH, MHum, in his remarks, said that he appreciated the young entrepreneurs at UMSU who had registered their trademarks through PPKI UMSU.
Arifin said that as a rights holder, UMSU will provide legal and economic protection to young UMSU entrepreneurs who have produced products from the results of research and service.
Hopefully, in the future, the products we release can provide economic benefits to rights holders and society, said Arifin.
“Currently, progress is not determined by natural resources but by intellectual resources. So we must protect our intellectual products. Therefore, we need to make service standards so that Intellectual Property services are superior and trusted by the community,” said Arifin.
UMSU PPKI Chair Faisal Riza, SH, MH said this activity was to motivate small entrepreneurs to register their business product brands with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights through PPKI UMSU and find out the standard of intellectual property services at PPKI.
This activity was attended by participants who were UMSU students and lecturers who already had trademarks. Therefore, it was hoped that the products to be marketed (sold) already had a registered brand certificate. This activity is also in addition to protecting MSME intellectual property products, and this activity also strengthens PPKI in serving Intellectual Property.
This activity presented speakers from the Copyright Division of the UMSU Intellectual Property Management Center, Rachmad Abduh, SH, MH, and from the North Sumatra Industry and Trade Office, Dr. Ir. Hj Nurhaida Pohan, MM.
