Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara team successfully won the title in the e-Sport Mobile legend competition after defeating the Binus team with a narrow score of 3-2 at the 2022 “UMSU Innovation and Creativity Carnival (UICC)” event.
In the final match, Thursday (24/2) night which was tense, the UMSU team was 2-0 down from the Binus team. In the early round of the match, the UMSU Team lost points after appearing fierce in the early minutes by collecting a lot of gold and slaughtering opposing troops. However, towards the end of the first half, the UMSU Team, who was too eager to end the match, lost concentration and made a mistake. Finally, the Binus Team took advantage of the UMSU Team’s mistake by counterattacking, which made the UMSU Team finally have to admit defeat.
In the second round, the UMSU team consisted of Muhammad Ridho Rangkuti (FEB), Rizki novriansyah Tanjung (FEB), Arfan Tito Mundaya (Agriculture), Dika Wahyudi Butar butar (electronic), Mhd. Ridho Andriansyah (electro) had to give up points again because he was stuck with the Binus Team’s attack strategy. The UMSU Team made another mistake after being able to dominate the game at the beginning of the round, but failed and lost concentration, so they had to hand over the winning points to the Binus Team.
Entering the third round, the UMSU team tried to correct mistakes by changing the pattern and strategy of attacking the opponent’s area. The UMSU team’s efforts to get up finally succeeded in reducing the score gap to 2-1. Successfully stealing points in the third round made the UMSU team more confident.
In the fourth round, the UMSU team appeared more solid in strategizing and building attacks. Meanwhile, the Binus team, who had lost crucial points in the third round, seemed to lose their concentration, so in the fourth round, they lost points again. The UMSU team was finally able to win points in the fourth round, so the score became 2-2.
Entering the fifth round, it was quite tense for each team and their supporters. The two team supporters who watched the match via live streaming on the UMSU TV Youtube Chanel exchanged comments to support each other. The excitement of the match was even more felt because the Casters, Muhammad Fadhil, Muhammad Doni, Toha were able to heat up the atmosphere that night.
Before the deciding round took place, both teams were given the opportunity to rest and take advantage of the time off to coordinate and formulate strategies. The UMSU team that managed to equalize seemed more confident. The UMSU team tried to maintain victory in the third and fourth rounds by changing strategies and developing attack patterns.
Entering the beginning of the match in the deciding round or the fifth round, both teams did not seem to want to be careless by reducing the aggressiveness of attacks. The match in the final round went quite tough. The UMSU team had lost concentration due to the signal, so they asked for time to “pause.” The Binus team had dominated the attack and made the UMSU team lose in the early stages of the match.
But finally, the UMSU Team was able to turn things around after one of the Binus Team personnel made a mistake and lost concentration. The UMSU Team took advantage of this opportunity so that they were finally able to steal points and lock the victory.
UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, who participated in monitoring the match, immediately congratulated the UMSU eSport Team for winning the eSport competition at the 2022 UMSU Innovation and Creativity Carnival (UICC). Even better,” he said.
The UMSU Innovation and Creativity Carnival (UICC) 2022 held various competitions in the fields of creativity and academics. In this annual event which was attended by more than 2,500 participants in two categories of high school and student groups, e-sports became one of the competitions held. The e-sports competition, which was held in the form of PUBG for high school and Mobile Legend for the university level, was enthusiastically welcomed by a team of responsibility from a number of Indonesian public and private universities, including USU, Unila, and Binus.
