Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) has once again added to its ranks of professors, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Alridiwirsah, M.M., a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture UMSU, who officially received a Decree (SK) Professor in the field of Agricultural Cultivation and Plantation Science. The submission of the decree was carried out on Monday (30/12) at the LLDIKTI Region I Office, Jl. Sempurna No. 8, Tj. Sari, Kec. Medan Selayang, Medan.
The decree was handed over directly by the Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region I, Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D., to the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, who was represented by the Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum. Furthermore, the decree was handed over to Prof. Dr. Ir. Alridiwirsah, M.M.
With this addition, UMSU now has a total of 18 professors.
On the occasion, Head of LLDikti Region I, Prof. Saiful, explained three pathways to obtain professorship in Indonesia, namely academic pathways, functional research pathways, and honorary pathways.
‘Honorary professorships are given by universities as awards to non-academic individuals who have extraordinary competence. However, not all universities are authorised to give honorary professorships. Only universities with A or Superior accreditation, as well as those that hold doctoral programmes in accordance with the field of expertise of the honorary professor candidate, can do so,’ said Prof Saiful.
Meanwhile, UMSU Vice Rector I, Prof Arifin, said that the addition of this professor was an extraordinary achievement for UMSU. He hopes this achievement will motivate other lecturers to strive for the title of Professor.
‘Achieving the title of Professor does not mean stopping. On the contrary, the responsibility is getting bigger. Therefore, continue to work and contribute even though you already hold the title of Professor,’ Prof Arifin said.
UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, on a separate occasion expressed his appreciation and pride for this achievement.
‘This is a form of UMSU’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources and strengthening the university’s position as one of the leading universities in Indonesia towards a world-class university,’ he said.
