Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) successfully held the ‘UMSU Content Creator Fest 2025’ event by presenting Danang Giri Sadewa, who is known as a successful content creator through the content material senggol campus and joking.
The event, which was held at the campus auditorium on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, Tuesday (14/1), was also filled with talk shows and awards for content creators from UMSU students and alumni.
Danang, who was lined up as a resource person, provided material as well as motivation and tips for success in becoming a content creator. In addition to presenting an inspirational talk show, this event also gave awards to content creators from among UMSU students and alumni.
Danang’s presence was greeted enthusiastically by hundreds of students and high school students from a number of regions in North Sumatra-Aceh. Those who attended the festival also participated in creating content with Danang.
This event aims to inspire the younger generation, especially Gen Z, to be able to utilise digital literacy skills to produce useful creative work.
Danang appreciated the creativity of UMSU students involved in this event, ‘This is my first time in Medan, and this UMSU event is amazing. I have visited many campuses, but I have never seen appreciation like this before,‘ he said.’
He revealed that honest and natural content is important.
‘I used to be against TikTok, but it turns out that this platform has a very large segmentation. As content creators, we have to understand the data and utilise the opportunities from various platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube,’ Danang added.
He also gave a message to the participants not to feel inferior or hesitant to try new things. According to him, creative ideas often come from simple interactions, such as comments from the audience.
‘We will never know when the momentum of our content will come. The key is to dare to be different and stay consistent,’ he explained.
Danang also shared tips to get into ‘FYP’ (For Your Page) on social media, namely by creating content that has an element of surprise and is different from general expectations. He emphasised that viral content is not just about the moment, but also has to have meaning.
Previously, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP was represented by WR III UMSU Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto, M.Si who opened the event, said that this activity was an important momentum to develop the creative potential of UMSU students, alumni, and even prospective students.
‘This event gathers creative people as content creators. This is important because everything in today’s world requires content creators and opens up new jobs. Being a content creator can inspire and educate the public, we can brand ourselves with our existing abilities,’ he said.
UMSU will provide scholarships to content creators who are students and those who already exist. Proof that UMSU is not a canned campus that is committed to supporting the creative abilities of students and even alumni.
According to him, the world today really needs content creators who can inspire and educate the public. This activity is also a motivational event for UMSU students to highlight their abilities in the digital realm.

The event continued with the awarding of content creators who have tens to hundreds of thousands of followers, consisting of two categories, namely the alumni and student categories. The student category winners were Ahmad Bayu Suslistyo, Muhtadil Baidhowi Alfad and Fadhil Anjasmara Fau. Meanwhile, the alumni category is Mia Yolanda Siregar S.Pd., Gr., M.Pd, Kharina Zahra Br Pelawi, S.T and Tiara Silvia Ananda.
UMSU Content Creator Fest 2025 is the first step to encourage UMSU students and alumni to enter the world of positive and inspiring content creators. With this event, UMSU shows its full support for the development of digital literacy among the younger generation.
