Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology’s Community Service Program (PKM Kemdiktisaintek), distributed logistics and health
assistance through a social action in Pantai Cermin Village, Tanjung Pura Sub-district, Langkat Regency. The two-day activity, held on Thursday–Friday (25–26/12), focused on healthcare services, fulfillment of basic needs, and psychosocial recovery for affected communities.
Led by FKIK UMSU lecturer dr. Eka Febriyanti, M.Gizi, along with four doctors, three lecturers, and eight students, the team provided free medical services to 107 residents. The most common health complaints included acute respiratory infections (ARI), hypertension, dyspepsia, and skin diseases.
In addition to healthcare services, the UMSU PKM team distributed 100 logistics aid packages to residents, as well as special-need assistance such as infant formula, maternity milk, diapers, sanitary pads, underwear, mosquito nets, sarongs, and prayer garments (mukena). The team also donated one clean water tank unit equipped with two reservoirs for two hamlets.
“This assistance reflects UMSU’s concern for affected communities, especially in ensuring access to healthcare and the fulfillment of basic needs,” said dr. Eka.

The activities continued with follow-up medical services for 88 residents, who mainly suffered from ARI, dyspepsia, and hypertension. The team also conducted trauma healing activities for at least 120 children through games, singing, and the distribution of school bags, learning supplies, toys, and educational books.
Head of Pematang Rambe Hamlet, Supriadi, expressed his appreciation for the support provided. “We are very grateful to UMSU. This assistance is extremely helpful for our community, especially healthcare services and access to clean water, which are urgently needed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Joko Susilo, Head of the Pantai Cermin Village Branch Leadership, also expressed his gratitude for the presence of the UMSU PKM team. “This activity not only provides physical assistance but also brings encouragement and hope to our residents. We hope programs like this will continue,” he stated.
This activity is part of a series of UMSU Peduli and disaster response initiatives carried out since flash floods and landslides struck Sumatra.
