The Community Service Team (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) distributed logistics, clean water, health services, and trauma-healing support to disaster-affected residents in Babo Village and Pantai Cempa Village, Bandar Pusaka, Aceh Tamiang, on Friday (19/12).
This activity was part of a Kemdiktisaintek grant program conducted over three days, from Wednesday to Friday (17–19 December 2025).
The assistance provided included not only food supplies but also children’s toys to help relieve trauma and bring comfort to affected children. Trauma-healing activities were carried out with elementary school students in Babo and Pantai Cempa villages, alongside basic health services and initial assistance for affected communities, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
In response to limited access to clean water, the team supplied clean water for residents’ daily needs, including drinking and cooking. To support communication and connectivity, the emergency response team also provided Starlink internet access and a generator centralized at the disaster response post.
The aid was symbolically handed over to village heads and the disaster post coordinator, reflecting synergy between higher education institutions, community organizations, and volunteers in responding to emergency situations. This initiative represents UMSU’s commitment to fulfilling both its academic and humanitarian roles, as a tangible implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education during disaster emergencies.
