The Faculty of Law at UMSU successfully held a yudisium (graduation assessment ceremony) for 216 graduates in the first period of 2025. The event took place at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan, on Saturday (5/7).
On this occasion, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP expressed his pride in the 216 students from the Faculty of Law who were officially declared graduates. According to him, this is evidence that the educational process is progressing well.
“UMSU continuously encourages its faculties, including the Faculty of Law, to produce graduates who are not only academically intelligent but also excel in morality and integrity. We want them to become agents of change in Indonesia’s legal and justice system,” he stated.
He also delivered a motivational message to the graduates, saying, “Never stop learning. The working world demands continuous growth. Be trustworthy and professional law graduates, and always uphold the good name of your alma mater wherever you go,” said Prof. Agussani.
Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Faisal, SH., M.Hum, represented by Vice Dean I Dr. Zainudin, SH., MH., conveyed a message encouraging the graduates to become law graduates of integrity.
“Integrity, morality, and soft skills must be cultivated. Knowledge is not just to be understood but must be applied in everyday life,” he said.
Vice Dean I also reminded the graduates always to respect and cherish their parents who made their law degrees possible.
“I always say, without parents, not even a president has value, let alone a law graduate. The pleasure of Allah depends on the pleasure of the parents. Knowledge will not be blessed without good manners,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, through a video testimony, the Chairman of the Advocacy Commission of BPKN RI and UMSU Faculty of Law alumnus, Fitra Bukhori, stated, “God willing, law graduates from UMSU’s Faculty of Law will be smart, excellent, trustworthy, and pioneers in upholding the law in Indonesia for the sake of truth and justice,” he said.

One of the most touching moments in the event was the message and impressions from the top graduates’ representatives, Henri Devano and Laura Amandasari. In her speech, Laura, who comes from a
Protestant Christian background, expressed her pride in being part of UMSU.
“At first, I had doubts because of our differences, but I found a second home at UMSU. This campus doesn’t just use tolerance as a slogan — it practices it genuinely,” said Laura, greeted by applause.
Henri Devano also shared his inspiring journey as a student from Langkat Regency, “I left for college at 5 a.m. and returned home at night, all for the dream of becoming the first graduate in my family. At UMSU, I was nurtured, appreciated, and given the opportunity to grow,” he shared emotionally.
The event concluded with a poetry musical performance by the UMSU Arts and Culture Student Activity Unit (UKM Seni Budaya) and a group photo session with university leaders, lecturers, and graduate representatives.
