The event became a momentum for cadre consolidation as well as a report on North Sumatra’s readiness to host the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress.
In his remarks, Prof. Akrim explained that UMSU has been entrusted with organizing the 2027 Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress. He presented the progress of several major facilities that will serve as the central venues for the congress activities.
“The construction progress of the Walidah Sports Hall has now reached 75 percent, while the Progressive Auditorium has reached 50.45 percent completion. We are targeting all construction to be completed by June 2027, while the Ahmad Dahlan Mosque is expected to be finished by February 2027,” he stated.
He expressed hope that the 2026 Muhammadiyah Anniversary celebration could be held at the future congress venue as part of the one-year countdown toward the major event.
“We hope the 2026 Muhammadiyah Anniversary can be held at the congress venue. This is our shared responsibility, and UMSU is fully prepared to embrace and collaborate with everyone,” he said.
According to him, hosting the Muhammadiyah Congress requires broad participation from various Muhammadiyah elements and the wider community. UMSU estimates that thousands of volunteers will be needed.
“We will need approximately 2,500 to 5,000 volunteers. With unity and collective spirit, we are optimistic that we can successfully organize the 2027 Congress,” he added.

He added that the participant selection process for the training was conducted rigorously to ensure the emergence of cadres capable of becoming organizational leaders in various regions.
“We hope more high-quality Muhammadiyah Youth cadres will emerge through the selection and development process that has been carried out,” he added.
