UMSU International Visit to Universiti Malaya, Malaysia
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, accompanied by UMSU academicians, made an international visit to Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. The meeting was held on Monday (11/9) at the Chancellery Building Meeting Room, UM Malaysia.
This visit is a follow-up to the International cooperation meeting between the Rector, Prof. Agussani, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Dr. Yatimah Alias, in signing the MoU between UMSU and MQA in Jakarta, witnessed directly by the Malaysian Minister of Education.
The UMSU delegation was welcomed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Dr. Yatimah Alias, Dean, Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. April Camilla Roslani, Head International Relations Centre, Prof. Dr. Sheena Kaur Director, International Relations Centre, Deputy Director (Surgical), Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, Prof. Dr. Mohd Zulkiflee Abu Bakar and Partnership Manager International Relation Centre (IRC), Mr. Muhamad Khairul Anuar Monday Puan Salifah Hasanah.
On this occasion, UMSU Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, who accompanied Prof. Agussani, MAP, introduced UMSU to the UM staff who attended. He said that UMSU, as a superior accredited campus in Indonesia and has collaborated with the Malaysian Minister of Education, wants to continue establishing international cooperation, one of which is with UM.
“Thank you for welcoming our arrival. We hope that in the future, between UMSU and UM, there will be joint research between our lecturers to collaborate. I am also pleased to hear that at Universiti Malaya, there is a student mobility program. Hopefully, in the future, UMSU students can exchange and study here in the short term or transfer credits, “said Dr. Rudianto.
He also said that this meeting could be the first step in designing international cooperation between UMSU and UM. Welcoming this, Prof. Yatimah Ailas, as the UM representative, admitted that he was very interested in collaborating in several activities. He said that as a UM representative, he had previously conducted joint research with one of the UMSU lecturers because I had also joined research at UMSU with Dr. Lita Nasution SP. MS.
We will further discuss with each faculty to determine joint programs such as research or student exchanges. Thank you for visiting UM, and then we can establish further cooperation, “said Prof. Yatimah.
Apart from Vice Rector III UMSU, the Deans and Heads of Institutions also conveyed the aims and objectives of this international visit according to the needs of their respective faculties.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law UMSU, Dr. Faisal, S.H., M.Hum, said that the program at UM is almost the same as the UMSU Faculty of Law program, so he hopes that in the future, there will be joint activities or research related to law, then collaborate through student exchange programs.
Likewise, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UMSU, dr. Siti Masliana Siregar, Sp.THT-KL (K) has long wanted to collaborate with UM. He said that several things can be done with UM, such as the IISMA program and credit transfer programs, so that UM can be one of the destinations for UMSU students to carry out the program.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. H. Januri, S.E., M.M., M.Si, who had previously collaborated, hopes this visit can strengthen the relationship between UMSU and UM. Nearby, Dr. Januri said that FEB UMSU will hold an international seminar, so it is hoped that it can collaborate with UM.
Finally, the Chairperson of the UMSU Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Dr. Syaiful Amri Saragih, S.P., M.Sc., which is more focused on research and publication cooperation, said that 90% of UMSU’s international publications are dominated by 65% – in collaboration with universities in Malaysia such as UPM to UTIM.
“In the next five years, we are focusing on international collaboration, and this is a joint opportunity. I hope that in the future, UMSU and UM can work together in the field of research and publications because there is no doubt about it, “said Dr. Syaiful.
