Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) participated in a higher education expo organized by the Asia Pacific Association For International Education (APAIE) in Perth, Australia, from Monday to Friday (4-8/3). This exhibition aimed to bring together thousands of higher education practitioners worldwide to foster cooperation and collaboration.
At the event, UMSU opened an exhibition stand located at W 31, which displays profiles and detailed information about institutions, faculties, and study programs, cooperation activities and offers collaboration opportunities.
UMSU’s presence at the event was represented by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, accompanied by the Secretary of the Institute for Cooperation and International Affairs, M. Sharez Hafiz, and the Head of the UMSU Language Center, Muhammad Rafii.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, explained that the participation of his campus in this international event aims to introduce Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara to campuses around the world to build cooperation and collaboration in various areas such as lecturer and student exchanges, collaborative research, scientific forums and so on. This step is taken to answer the challenges of internationalization of higher education that cannot be avoided.
He said, “UMSU is determined to build international collaboration with institutions from various countries, one of which is through this exhibition in Australia.”
Meanwhile, UMSU Vice Rector Rudianto explained that the expo activities in Perth were attended by more than 2,500 participants from various campuses in the United States, Canada, Spain, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Slovakia, Indonesia, and others. More than 500 exhibition stands, including UMSU, were present at the event.
“Alhamdulillah, the UMSU stand has never been empty of guest visits from Asia, Europe, or America.” They are enthusiastic about partnering with us, “he said.
For information, several well-known campuses also opened stands, including the University of Melbourne, Australia; Monash University, Australia; National University of Singapore; University of Malaya, Malaysia; University, Australia National University, Curtin University Australia, the University of Toronto, Canada; Nagoya University, Japan; University Of California Berkeley United States, and others. Several campuses opened in Indonesia, including UMSU, UI, USU, UNPAD, and several other universities.
