The Public Relations Bureau and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) successfully triumphed as the best runner-up in the social media category at the 2021 Diktiristek Public Relations Award event.
Awarding the 2021 Diktiristek Award for Public Relations of Private Universities with the theme “The Benefits of Implementing an Independent Learning Policy: Independent Campus.” by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (DIKTIRISTEK), held in Jakarta, Thursday (13/1).
The Directorate General of Higher Education award was received directly by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by the Vice Rector III UMSU, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., preceded by a rigorous selection followed by private universities throughout Indonesia. From the private university that followed, five private universities were selected with the top scores nationally. Furthermore, these five best private universities followed the next selection stage, with presentations to determine the best.
From the results of monitoring and evaluation of the Directorate General of Higher Education’s Public Relations of UMSU is considered to have good performance and is entitled to the 2nd best award in the social media category at the level of private universities in Indonesia.
Plt. Director General of Diktiristek Prof. Ir. Nizam explained that this award is a routine agenda held annually with two categories. However, this year it was expanded to four types of the 2021 Directorate General of Higher Education Award: the Independent Campus Award, the Cooperation Award, the Public Relations Award, and the Journalist and Media Award.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, expressed appreciation for the achievements of Public Relations. “Alhamdulillah, we should be grateful for the achievements of the UMSU Public Relations and Protocol Bureau. This award is also inseparable from the efforts and commitment of the entire academic community to continue to work and contribute to improving the quality of education,” he said.
According to the Rector, the award achieved by UMSU in the field of public relations was also thanks to the support of the North Sumatra Region I Higher Education Service Institute.
The Rektor also reminded that the achievements achieved do not make you complacent but instead become a motivation to be better in the future. “Don’t be easily satisfied because the challenges ahead could be bigger,” he said.
