Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara (UMSU) handed over an incentive for scientific publications in 2021 worth Rp. 3.7 billion as a form of appreciation encourages lecturers to implement the tri dharma of higher education.
The Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, carried out the handover at UMSU Auditorium – Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan, Saturday (19/03). The event was preceded by the submission of a Decree (SK) on the appointment of the journal manager.
According to the Rector, incentives for publishing proceedings, national and international scientific journals, and textbooks on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are carried out annually. The incentive delivery is divided into 3 batches: batch 1 of Rp. 1,133,550,000, batch 2 of Rp. 1,239,521,000 and batch 3 of Rp. 1,337,450,000.
He explained that submitting publication incentives had become UMSU’s culture and commitment to appreciating lecturers who have conducted research and publications. Apart from UMSU’s efforts to improve the quality of scientific publications from year to year.
The submission of publication incentives has been carried out since 2015 through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). Until the Covid-19 pandemic outbreaks, UMSU remained committed to providing incentive rights without reduction.
He explained that incentives were positive enough to increase scientific works published in journals. As a result, UMSU has 54 scientific journals, and 17 have been accredited with Sinta with as many as 607 scientific articles.
In addition, in 2021, the UMSU Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) was ranked 2nd in LLDIKTI Region 1 North Sumatra for successfully publishing 58 Scopus articles. More than 150 lecturers with Scopus account owners are expected to increase the number of Scopus articles to 70 in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of LPPM UMSU, Syaiful Amri, M.Sc, thanked the university for the support and appreciation. “Providing incentives for scientific publications is a different motivation expected to increase publications in the national journals and indexed by Scopus. For that, we continue to provide assistance in writing scientific papers,” said Syaiful.
The incentive for scientific publications in 2021 by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP symbolically to the FISIP Lecturer Dr. Muhammad Said Harahap, MIKom as the recipient of the Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) incentive, FAHUM Lecturer Mirsa Astuti, MH as the proceeding incentive recipient, FKIP Lecturer Gusman Lesmana, M.Pd the book incentive recipient and FEB Lecturer Rezki Zurriah, M.Sc.
The Rector also submitted a Decree (SK) for journal management to Rahmat Ramadhani, MH, as the Sinta 3 journal manager, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alridiwirsyah, the manager of the Sinta 4 journal, Pipit Putri Hariani, M. Si, the manager of the Sinta 5 journal, and Dr. Hendra Sutysna, the manager of the non-Sinta journal.
The handover was also attended by Vice Rector I UMSU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M. Hum, Vice Rector II UMSU Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd, UMSU’s Faculty Leaders, and UMSU Lecturers. (Pny)
