Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) has once again sent a group of students to participate in a Student Exchange Program at INTI International University, Malaysia. The five selected students were officially sent off by Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., on Tuesday (May 19) at the VIP Room of UMSU’s main campus on Muchtar Basri Street No. 3, Medan.

Now in its fourth batch, the Student Exchange Program reflects UMSU’s strong commitment to internationalization and its efforts to provide students with valuable global academic experiences.

The participating students are:

  • Fajar Aulia, Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB)
  • Imtiyaz Alnatanisa, Management Study Program, FEB
  • Tengku Aghriphina Listyani, Management Study Program, FEB
  • Wahid Ismil, Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP)
  • Reysha Amanda Putri, Sharia Business Management Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI)

In his remarks, Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si. congratulated the students for successfully passing the competitive selection process.

He emphasized that UMSU’s partnership with INTI International University is a prestigious collaboration, as INTI is recognized as one of Malaysia’s leading private universities.

“INTI collaborates with some of Indonesia’s top universities. Not many institutions are able to sustain this exchange program over the years, but UMSU has remained consistent and fully committed,” he said.

He further explained that the partnership is built upon an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia and is supported through a government-to-government (G2G) framework. Nearly all academic programs at UMSU have benefited from this international collaboration.

“I always remind students that they will gain four major benefits from this program: new skills, international experience, global networking, and future career opportunities. This is an invaluable opportunity with so much to learn,” he added.

Earlier, Muhammad Shareza Hafiz, S.E., M.Acc., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Economics and Business, also shared words of encouragement with the outgoing students.

“You have gone through a rigorous selection process and earned your place in this program. I hope you will adapt quickly, perform exceptionally, and make the most of this opportunity,” he said.

Representing the participants, Reysha Amanda Putri expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.

“I would like to thank UMSU, the Office of International Cooperation (OIC), and all our lecturers and study program leaders for their support. We are truly excited to study abroad and gain international knowledge and experience,” she said.

The Student Exchange Program demonstrates UMSU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen students’ global competencies, particularly in English proficiency, intercultural communication, and international adaptability. Through this initiative, UMSU hopes participants will bring back valuable global insights while further enhancing the university’s international reputation.

The send-off ceremony was also attended by Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abrar Adhani, S.Sos., M.I.Kom.; representatives from the Sharia Business Management, Management, and Public Administration study programs; Chair of the UMSU Office of International Cooperation (OIC), Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, S.Sos., M.A.; along with members of the OIC team.
