Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) participated in the 1st Annual Meeting on Global Academic Collaboration, held at Tashkent University, Uzbekistan, on Tuesday–Wednesday (28–29/10).
This international event was initiated by Kyungdong University (KDU), South Korea, in collaboration with Tashkent University, and attended by representatives from more than 50 partner universities worldwide.
UMSU was represented by the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fitra Zambak, and the Head of OIC, Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, M.A. They joined the delegation of the Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (Majelis Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah) along with representatives from five other Muhammadiyah–‘Aisyiyah universities.
The meeting served as a strategic platform to strengthen academic partnerships and explore new collaboration opportunities within Kyungdong University’s global network. Throughout the sessions, participants discussed a range of initiatives, including joint research plans, faculty and student exchange programs, and the development of international academic programs aimed at enhancing global engagement in higher education.
UMSU’s participation in this inaugural annual meeting reaffirms the university’s commitment to expanding international academic cooperation and building partnerships that foster innovation and shared growth. This active involvement also reflects UMSU’s vision of contributing to a globally connected higher education ecosystem.
