Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) as a form of commitment to collaborate. The signing was held on Thursday (10/3) in the UMSU VIP Room – Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.
This collaboration is related to cooperation in implementing the Tri Dharma of higher education and establishing a professional engineering study program at the UMSU Faculty of Engineering. The aim is to strengthen the quality of institutions and networks nationally and internationally. As well as seeking to establish synergy between Muhammadiyah Colleges (PTM) throughout Indonesia in supporting MBKM and Accreditation programs,
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, expressed his gratitude for the availability of UMS in attending and collaborating,
“Thank you for coming, Mr. Rector. This UMS is one of the pride of PTM, starting from its resources to networking,” said Prof. Agussani. In addition, he hopes that the cooperation built will not only be established at the leadership level but can continue to collaborate up to the faculty level.
UMSU – UMS Signs MoU and MoA “Regarding opening a professional engineering study program, we think it is very appropriate for the Chancellor of UMS to be the coach. Lastly, it’s just a matter of how to get the formal legality from the Central Engineer Profession (PI),” continued Prof. Agussani.

UMSU – UMS Signs MoU and MoA Meanwhile, according to a report submitted by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (Fatek) UMSU Munawar Alfansury Siregar, ST, MT, the establishment of this collaboration is one of the efforts to encourage the potential of faculties and universities. He explained that the planning started last January regarding the establishment of the engineering professional study program.
“We have identified the requirements that must be met. Seeing the good profile of UMS, we finally chose UMS as our coach in establishing this professional engineering study program,” said Munawar, who hopes that the UMSU Faculty of Engineering can collaborate with foreign universities in 2023.
The MoU was signed by the UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, and the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si. In contrast, the MoA script was signed by the Dean of FATEK UMSU Munawar Alfansury Siregar, ST, MT, and the Dean of FATEK UMS Rois Fatoni, ST, M.Sc., P.HD.
