Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) won six medals at the 2025 National AbdiDaya Ormawa competition, with the awards announced at the closing ceremony held at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang on Saturday (6/12).
The honors covered several strategic categories, including 1st Place – Most Innovative University, 1st Place – Most Innovative Supervising Lecturer, awarded to Assoc. Prof. Dr. dr. Humairah Medina Liza Lubis, M.Ked(PA)., Sp.PA (FKIK lecturer); 1st Place – Team with Results Adaptable at the National Level (PK IMM FKIK); 2nd Place – Team with the Most Measurable Sustainability Planning (HMJ Social Welfare, FISIP); 2nd Place – Team with the Most Comprehensive Indicator Achievement (HMJ Accounting Education, FKIP); and 4th Place – Most Innovative Partner (partner of PKK IMM FKIK).
This achievement demonstrates that UMSU not only excels academically but also consistently encourages students to make tangible contributions through well-planned, measurable, and sustainable community service programs.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, accompanied by Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, expressed appreciation and pride in the achievement. According to him, this success is the result of strong collaboration between students, supervising lecturers, and full institutional support.
“This achievement reflects UMSU’s commitment to fostering student organizations capable of producing innovations with a broad impact on society,” said Prof. Agussani.
He further expressed hope that this accomplishment would motivate UMSU students to continue creating, innovating, and taking strategic roles in addressing social challenges at both the local and national levels.
UMSU’s success at AbdiDaya Ormawa 2025 is expected to generate new enthusiasm among students to further develop their potential, strengthen collaboration, and enhance the university’s reputation at the national and international levels.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si stated that this success is an indicator of the improved quality of planning and implementation of student empowerment programs.
“The achievements at AbdiDaya 2025 show that our students are able to translate scientific approaches into social interventions with real impact. This reflects academic discipline, accurate analysis of community needs, and integrity in program implementation,” he explained.
“The university will continue to strengthen its support so that students can compete optimally at the national level,” added Dr. Rudianto.
Chair of SRCC UMSU, Dr. Fatimah Sari Siregar, S.Pd., M.Hum, added that the achievement is the result of consistent mentoring and quality assurance of programs.
“Each team demonstrated significant improvement, both in program design, mapping of priority issues, and data-based evaluation. SRCC sees strong methodological maturity, which is an important asset in facing the final stages of AbdiDaya,” she said.
UMSU’s success at AbdiDaya Ormawa 2025 further strengthens the university’s reputation as an institution that actively promotes student innovation in solving community problems. This achievement is also part of UMSU’s ongoing efforts to expand its academic contribution through sustainable and high-impact community service programs.
