Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Institute Francais Indonesia (IFI) signed a renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding as a form of commitment to continue cooperation related to the management of French Stalls in the UMSU Library. The signing was carried out on Wednesday (18/5) in the UMSU VIP room – Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.
Previously, UMSU and IFI had collaborated in managing France Booth, which served as an information center regarding opportunities for students to study and prepare for France. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the renewal of cooperation can only be carried out post-pandemic.
It is hoped that IFI can provide a global atmosphere and bridge the gap between UMSU and France in research and education. The collaboration focused on connecting UMSU and the University of Lyon, France, or other universities and connecting French students or society with UMSU in scholarship programs or international students. So that students can be directly involved in internship activities in French companies.
“This is not the first time we have collaborated with the Institute Francais Indonesia. I hope this collaboration will continue and be implemented soon. Hopefully, we can continue collaborating with real collaboration programs because the French Stall in our library has long been a source of pride,” said Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si.
Meanwhile, in the field of law, WR I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum, wants cooperation in conducting virtual public lectures with legal experts in France. Because according to him, this collaboration is necessary to provide understanding to students regarding the common thread between Dutch and Indonesian law to discover developments in the field of law in France.
To welcome this wish, Philomene Robin, the Attaché for Educational Cooperation and IFI University, invited UMSU to join the virtual Joint Working Group meeting on June, 9th 2022. As a result, 30 French universities can be contacted as partners so that JWG can become UMSU’s first contact receptive with universities in France.
WR III UMSU Assoc represented the signing of the MoU. Prof. Rudianto, M.Si with Philomene Robin as Attache for Educational Cooperation and IFI University. The meeting was also attended by UMSU Head of UMSU LK UI Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, S.Sos., MA, and all FKIP Study Program Leaders. From IFI Annisa Fauziah, Deputy Attache for Educational and University Cooperation, and Nur Hidayah in Charge of Campus France Medan. (Pny)
