The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP accompanied by WR III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, welcomed the return of one of the UMSU OIC team, who graduated with a master’s degree at Leiden University, the Netherlands and released UMSU Medical students who received IISMA to the Malaysian University of Science.
The welcome and release was held on Tuesday (3/10) at the UMSU VIP Room on Muchtar Basri Street No.3 Medan.
Soraya Sakinah, S.H., LL.M. is an alumnus of the Faculty of Law UMSU as well as the OIC team who completed her master’s degree at Leiden University, the Netherlands, with a scholarship. Meanwhile, Patrialis Bayu Permana, a 2021 UMSU Faculty of Medicine (FK) student who successfully passed the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program to University Sains Malaysia.
From the beginning of their departure to returning from education in the Netherlands, Soraya admitted that she was very supported by UMSU, “Thank you UMSU for your prayers and support from before and after my studies. UMSU is my second home and I am part of UMSU. I want to contribute more to UMSU, hopefully, there will be further seeds who can study abroad,” she said.
Then, Bayu accompanied by his father, Dean and Vice Dean of FK said that during the IISMA selection, UMSU was very supportive in preparing himself until he finally succeeded in becoming the winner of IISMA 2023 from 9000 applicants.
“Please pray, I will leave on October 5 from Medan to Jakarta and October 7 from Jakarta to Malaysia with other IISMA recipients,” said Bayu.
On this occasion, Bambang Ismanto as Bayu’s father also gave a message to his son who will pursue temporary education at USM Malaysia.
“I feel proud and very touched by the release of our son who graduated from IISMA representing UMSU. Son, this graduation does not represent yourself personally but represents UMSU, keep your attitude and straighten your intentions to do your best. We will always keep our mouths open to pray for you,” Bambang said while shedding tears.
Being in a situation full of pride and emotion, the UMSU Rector’s eyes were also wet hearing Bayu’s father’s message.
“We always pray for ananda Soraya or Bayu. What parents say that is your capital to compete internationally. Goodbye and take care of your health,” said Rector Prof. Agussani.
In addition, Prof. Agussani also advised that the achievements of Soraya and Bayu can be transmitted to other lecturers and students, even though there are already several lecturers and students studying abroad.
Finally, IISMA PIC Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, M.A said UMSU always supports IISMA programs by paying for language tests and training. The last three years have sent students to take part in the IISMA program, and two consecutive years of IISMA recipients came from the Faculty of Medicine.
