The Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) held a socialization session at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) as a tangible form of support for meeting the housing needs of the UMSU academic community, on Friday (21/11).
Their visit was welcomed directly by Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd, who stated that the subsidized housing program is an important solution to address future challenges.
“Many young people and employees find it difficult to own assets, while land prices continue to rise. Through government subsidy programs, we have the opportunity to take advantage of this opportunity,” he said.
He also emphasized that UMSU highly appreciates national policies that align with the Prabowo–Gibran government programs.
“Do not be afraid to invest. Sustenance will always come. More installments mean more assets,” Prof. Akrim remarked.
Meanwhile, Tapera Financing Marketing Assistant Reddi Rahmadilaga explained the ease of the subsidy scheme, including a flat interest rate of five percent, a down payment (DP) of one percent or even fully waived, and monthly installments of around one million rupiah.
“This program is intended for people aged 21–36 who do not yet own a home. In addition, financing insurance ensures that the installments are considered paid off if the homeowner passes away,” he explained.
Tapera recorded that to date, the distribution of subsidized housing units in North Sumatra has reached 9,429 units, placing the province seventh nationally.
Specifically for UMSU employees, special down payment subsidies will be provided, along with additional household equipment assistance at the time of contract signing.
UMSU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government programs and expressed hope that this activity would provide direct benefits to all employees.
This socialization activity is a direct follow-up to the recent visit of the Minister of Public Works and Housing Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, to UMSU. The Minister’s earlier visit gave strong encouragement to the university to accelerate the utilization of subsidized housing programs for the entire academic community.
