The Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FAI UMSU), once again demonstrated its commitment to improving students’ financial literacy by organizing the Capital Market School in collaboration with FAI UMSU, carrying the theme “Sharia Capital Market, Blessed Investment.”
This educational activity was held on Thursday (20/11) starting at 09.00 a.m. until completion, at Warung Juragan, Jl. Bukit Barisan I No. 3.
The program featured two experienced speakers from the Islamic capital market industry.
The first speaker, Deri Yustria, Sharia Business Development Specialist of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), delivered an in-depth explanation of the development of the sharia capital market in Indonesia, the principles of halal investment, and the opportunities that can be utilized by the younger generation to build a safe and sharia-compliant investment portfolio.
The second speaker, Muhammad Ali, Representative Officer of Maybank Sekuritas Medan Branch, discussed appropriate investment strategies for beginners, including risk management, how to select sharia stocks, and the importance of digital literacy in optimizing modern investment instruments.
This activity was designed not only as a material presentation session, but also as an interactive discussion and question-and-answer forum.
Participants showed great enthusiasm in asking questions, especially regarding how to start investing for the first time, how to distinguish sharia stocks from conventional ones, and the long-term potential of the capital market as a financial instrument for young people.
In addition to gaining new insights, participants had the opportunity to receive various benefits, including certificates, practical knowledge, refreshments, and special door prizes for active participants. The committee also provided free registration via QR Code to facilitate student registration.
Through this activity, FAI UMSU hopes to encourage students, especially those of the Sharia Business Management Study Program, to become more investment-literate and able to comprehensively understand sharia financial instruments.
This Capital Market School serves as a concrete step by FAI UMSU in building a financially independent young generation with sharia insight, ready to contribute to the halal industry sector.
Such collaborative activities are expected to continue sustainably so that more students can be educated about the importance of sharia investment as part of safe and blessed future financial planning.
