Busyro Muqoddas Speech at UMSU Graduation: Proud to Have Foreign Students
Muhammadiyah Central Executive and graduates are proud of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), which can create products of scientists who believe and do good deeds, including the graduation of international students.
Chairman of the Central Executive of Muhammadiyah, Dr. Muhammad Busyro Muqoddas, M.Hum, Tuesday (4/7/2023), said that “the products created by the scientist are necessary to address the current leadership crisis in our country.” At the same time, the presence of international students who took part in the graduation further strengthened UMSU’s role on the international stage.
“I am proud on behalf of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive and say thank God and gratitude for the role of the Rector, vice Rector, and UMSU lecturers who have produced the best graduates,” said Busyro Muqoddas in his speech at the graduation ceremony period I 2023 UMSU which was held at Selecta Convention Hall Jalan Medan Electricity, Tuesday (4/7/2023).
Busyro’s speech was ignited by his pride because, among the 1,276 graduates at UMSU, graduates from Thailand had been studying at FKIP. Present to lead the graduation ceremony process and the senate ranks of UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, M.Hum Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, MPd, Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, MSi, Postgraduate Director, faculty and study program leaders. Also present was the Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, the Head of PW Aisyiyah North Sumatra, Dr. Nur Rahmah Amini, M.Ag, and the leadership of Ortom Muhammadiyah.
Busyro further feels that this country has a leadership crisis because officials in the state bureaucracy do not have knowledge, faith, or good deeds.
Busyro also explained that corruption seems out of control, even though religious figures, professors, and legal experts are in the bureaucracy, so Indonesia is like a global corruption laboratory. He hoped that UMSU students and graduates would play a role in replacing leadership in this country. In addition, he invited UMSU students to do research on corruption with good intentions and be responsible for fixing this country.
In his speech, Busyro conveyed the process of the UMSU graduation ceremony, which was attended by 1,276 graduates who had the prospect that Muhammadiyah through Muhammadiyah Higher Education (PTMA) had played a role in caring for the quality of the country and people through knowledge, faith and good deeds.
Busyro has never stopped inviting graduates to continue developing knowledge following the nature of knowledge to free themselves from economic, political, legal, and security colonialism. The demand for the importance of scientific development is following PTMA’s mission to carry out scientific, humanitarian, and universal regeneration. A scientific cadre is the key to leading a just country with knowledge capabilities.
According to Busyro, we are living in a country that needs authentic leadership based on knowledge, honesty, intelligence, and on the side of justice. Muhammadiyah views Indonesia as a crisis. For this reason, UMSU graduates must appear in front. Many of our leaders who play narrative beyond the sky without implementation hallucinate. Muhammadiyah is the opposite of such a leader. Concrete Muhammadiyah. The narrative is science, faith, charity, and scientific. One of the products is a graduate of UMSU, scoring various achievements nationally and internationally. It is not based on empty slogans.
At the end of his speech, Busyro Muqoddas invited UMSU graduates, if they became leaders, to imitate a good tree as described by Allah SWT in Surah Ibrahim verses (24), (25), and (26).
Busryo Muqoddas also praised the live broadcast of the symbolic presentation to students at the graduation ceremony. He admitted that he would pass it on to UII, where he served as a new way to show the fear of graduates to their parents.
