Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara and North Sumatra National Population and Family Planning (BKKBN) agreed to sign a cooperation agreement (MoU) in the Program for the Acceleration of Stunting Rate Reduction in North Sumatra.
The MoU script was signed directly by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, and Plt. Head of North Sumatra BKKBN Representative Dra. Rabiatun Adawiyah, MPHR Monday (17/1) at the Emerald Garden Hotel Hall, Medan
Dra. Rabiatun Adawiyah, MPHR, said this MOU activity is a form of collaboration to synergize the BKKBN program with Universities and BKKBN partners in the context of accelerating the reduction of stunting in Indonesia since 2021 based on the president’s mandate.
“BKKBN wants to involve campuses in Medan to participate in the Program for the Acceleration of Reduction in Stunting Rates in North Sumatra, down to 14 percent in 2024 for the National, while North Sumatra is targeting from 25 percent to 11 percent,” said Rabiatun Adawiyah.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UMSU, Prof.Dr. Agussani, M.AP, admitted that his party is ready to collaborate with the BKKBN in fighting stunting cases in North Sumatra. Moreover, the cooperation relationship between UMSU and BKKBN has been quite good so far.
He explained that UMSU has sufficient resources to be involved in the programs implemented by the BKKBN. Not only limited to the Program for the Acceleration of Reduction in Stunting Rates, but it can also be for other programs, including joint research, joint research, mentoring, and community empowerment.
“So far, UMSU has implemented many mentoring and community empowerment programs, including mentoring and developing rice field tourism in Pematang Johar Village, Deli Serdang,” said the Rector.
