The Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara and PT. Geotech Efathama Jakarta held a public lecture entitled “Deep Foundations for Heavy and Dynamic Loads: Data Requirements, Design, and Implementation.”
A seminar was held at the UMSU Auditorium in Medan on Tuesday, February 14th. Dr. Aksan Kawanda, S.T., M.T., the Director of P.T. Geotech Efathama Jakarta, was invited to speak. UMSU was chosen as one of the hosts for the AOG (Art of Geotechnics) tour in several cities.
Hundreds of FATEK UMSU students and other universities attended the event, including Medan State Polytechnic, Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic, Nommensen, USU, and Contractors to Consultants.
Based on a report from Deputy Dean 1 of FATEK UMSU Assoc. Prof. Ade Faisal, ST, M.Sc, Ph.D., this activity is a briefing for students, creating an understanding that construction is related to humans.
“The earthquake in Turkey showed that there were construction problems. Many planned buildings collapsed. Even though construction in Turkey adopts European standards,” said Ade.
The Dean of FATEK UMSU, Munawar Alfansury Siregar, S.T., M.T., aims to foster a positive relationship between students and practitioners through this activity. The ultimate goal is to promote the development of eco-friendly construction practices.
