The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU) is actively exploring international cooperation with several universities in Malaysia to enhance the quality of education.
Dr. Januri, S.E., M.Si, the Dean of FEB UMSU, represented by Deputy Dean III, Dr. Hasrudy Tanjung, S.E, M.Si, stated that this exploration of cooperation is part of the internationalization efforts.
“We visited campuses including the Institute of Islamic Hadhari, Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Selangor,” said Hasrudy, accompanied by Aswin Pratama Harahap, M.Sc., during an interview in Medan on Saturday, August 26th.
He explained that the exploration of cooperation involves meetings with officials within the faculties of the visited universities, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hizam Hanafiah, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate) – Associate Professor in Management and Entrepreneurship, Associate Senior Fellow at the Institute of Islamic Hadhari, and Associate Fellow at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA. Additionally, they met with Puan Nur Syahidah Binti Shahabuddin, Administrative Officer at the Secretariat of Industrial and Community Network Affairs.
Meetings were also held with the Faculty of Economics and Management at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Selangor. Various topics were discussed, including the planning of programs related to economics, entrepreneurship, and innovation. They also discussed UMSU’s participation in the Malaysia-Indonesia International Collaboration on Economics, Management, and Accounting (MIICEMA).
The plans for cooperation include the implementation of the three main functions of higher education institutions (tridharma perguruan tinggi) and a visit by FEB UMSU students for a visiting study on August 25th, 2023.
Furthermore, it was explained that FEB UMSU is continuously striving to enhance cooperation with foreign educational institutions. This is done to strengthen the path towards the internationalization of academic activities, research, teaching, and community service. It also involves the participation of foreign industries, which will strengthen intensive programs for FEB students and faculty members.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Mohd Hizam Hanafiah, during the visit by FEB UMSU, explained that they have collaborated with various renowned universities in Asia.
“We are willing to collaborate with FEB UMSU because we share many similarities in various aspects such as research, Matching Grants, services, and international conference collaboration,” he said.
