The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UMSU held a graduation ceremony for 264 graduates from the first semester of 2025. The event took place on Friday (4/7) at the UMSU Auditorium, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.
According to the Decision Letter (SK) read by Deputy Dean I Dr. Abrar Adhani, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., the graduates are from three programmes: Social Welfare (30 graduates), Public Administration (42 graduates), and Communication Studies (192 graduates).
At this moment, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agusani, M.AP, expressed his appreciation and pride in the achievements of the FISIP graduates, emphasising that today’s success is not the end, but the beginning of a new responsibility within society.
“On behalf of the university and the leadership of the Muhammadiyah organisation, I extend my congratulations. You are not merely graduates, but ambassadors of this university and nation,” said Prof. Agusani.
He noted that FISIP UMSU has long been the backbone of the university’s achievements.
“FISIP has always been a major contributor to every achievement of UMSU. From PKM competitions, PPK Ormawa events, to international student exchanges, FISIP students have never failed to bring home achievements,” he said proudly.
The UMSU Rector stressed the importance of upholding the university’s reputation and continuing to hone one’s skills, “This degree is not just an academic symbol, but a moral responsibility. Carry the good name of FISIP and UMSU wherever you go,” he stressed.
As a form of recognition, the Rector awarded a full scholarship to Communication Studies student Maily Chung, who delivered a captivating monologue on the theme of justice.
The Rector also expressed his commitment to supporting FISIP graduates to actively participate in various fields. Especially since FISIP now has an International class that will continue to grow.
“We are not just producing graduates, but agents of change. I am confident that FISIP graduates will emerge as critical, intelligent, and ethical leaders,” he stated.
Earlier, the Dean of FISIP UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arifin Saleh, M.SP., in his report explained that over the past five years, FISIP has produced nearly two thousand high-quality alumni.
“We are proud that over the past five years, FISIP has graduated 1,866 graduates, and that number continues to increase each year,” he said.

He also mentioned that all programmes at FISIP—Communication Studies, Public Administration, and Social Welfare—have been accredited as excellent and are increasingly in demand.
