The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMSU held a briefing and release of the Jati Diri Field Experience Programme (PLP) 1 year 2025. The participants were released directly by the Rector of UMSU Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP represented by Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto, M.Si on Friday (7/2) at the UMSU Court on Muchtar Basri Street No. 3 Medan.
The students who took part in this release consisted of 436 FKIP UMSU 4th semester students, 7 KKN students from Surakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMS) and 3 SEA Teacher students from Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Philippines.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto in his speech congratulated UMS students and students from the Philippines who joined the national and international KKN activities. He emphasised that PLP Jati Diri 1 is not just an academic activity, but also a valuable experience to get to know the school environment and bring educational values to students and educators at school.
‘When we talk about the identity of an educator, there is a basic value that must be learnt, which is discipline. This is the main key for a teacher to be more respected by the surrounding community,’ he said.
In addition, according to WR III, a teacher must have hospitality and be able to be a friend to students. He also emphasised the importance of students’ role as literacy agents who can bring change to the school environment.
‘Good teachers are those who can replace the role of social media by providing educational and inspirational interactions for their students,’ he added.
Previously, the Dean of FKIP UMSU Dra. Hj Syamsuyurnita, M.Pd reported that the study programme with the largest number of participants came from Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), namely 226 students. All participants will be placed in 42 partner schools.
‘You must be disciplined, responsible, and work together. FKIP UMSU is the best faculty in implementing PLP and FKIP UMSU students are known to be the most disciplined and responsible, so keep it up,’ he ordered.
As a symbol, the release was marked by embedding identification marks to student representatives from various study programs, UMS KKN students and SEA Teacher Philippines program students.
With the release of 436 students in the Jati Diri PLP programme in 2025, it is hoped that all participants can adapt to the school environment, carry out their duties with full responsibility, and make a positive contribution to the world of education.
