UMSU Press Publishing held a royalty and award ceremony for 142 authors on Thursday (28/3) at the UMSU Library on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by WR 1 Prof. Muhammad Arifin Gutlom, M.Hum, accompanied by the Head of UMSU Press Dr. Muhammad Arifn, M.Pd, handed over royalties of Rp—47,078,064 and awards to 142 authors published by UMSU Press.
Head of UMSU Press Publisher, Dr. Arifin, said that this activity has been carried out for 4 years. The number of authors continues to increase, “UMSU Press is committed that the incoming book manuscript must have extraordinary value and usefulness,” he said.
Books published by UMSU Press are available at 56 Gramedia offline bookstores, Gramedia Digital, Google Playbook, Shopee, and Kubuku.
“Alhamdulillah, some time ago, representatives of the congress library from America were also interested in UMSU Press; they liked books with local wisdom nuances and bought up to 5 million,” said Dr. Arifin.
He hopes that writers can focus on the genre of novels or nonfiction in the future to answer market needs.
He reported that UMSU Press is not only in demand by UMSU residents, but some writers come from other universities such as UIN, UNPRI, and UMN.
Seeing the development of UMSU Press, WR 1 is very appreciative and enthusiastic about this annual activity.
“Alhamdulillah, UMSU Press has bridged the writers, and UMSU Press is nothing without writers. Hopefully, this activity will arouse the enthusiasm of our friends who have not written to write,” said Prof. Arifin.
He also conveyed the importance of writing. According to him, you can learn someone’s thoughts, of course, from his writing, and you can get to know someone from his writing.
The activity was closed by handing over royalties and the UMSU Press Award to the 10 best writers who contributed greatly to the growth of UMSU Press.
