Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held a gathering and iftar together with UMSU alum journalists, taking place in the UMSU Campus Rector building, on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan City, Saturday 8 April 2023
Gathering and breaking the fast together, attended directly by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP Head of UMSU Public Relations and Protocol, Dr. Ribut Priadi and North Sumatra PWI Secretary, Hamonangan Panggabean, who is also an alumnus of FISIP UMSU.
Prof. Agussani admitted that he was happy to be able to break his fast with UMSU alum journalists, who now work in electronic, print, and television media, both national and local media. “It is amazing, the feeling of belonging to this campus. So that they could attend, even though we counted hundreds compared to all the alums. However, those present are the warriors,” said Agussani.

Agussani revealed that this iftar activity could not be separated from the ideas and suggestions of alum journalists, together with Public Relations and Protocol. The togetherness that was established made the event take place in a family manner among the alums of the UMSU journalists..
“It is a pleasure for me as Chancellor of UMSU to stay in touch directly when breaking the fast of Ramadhan. At this moment, we can break the fast together while discussing and strengthening friendship and how the relationship, the mind awakened from this alma mater, is maintained.

“The current development of UMSU is certainly inseparable from university governance, followed by improving facilities and academic and non-academic services. The governance of this university is a kind of system that allows organizations to continue to run without depending on certain individuals or figures,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of PWI North Sumatra, who is also an alumnus of FISIP UMSU, Hamonangan Panggabean, admitted that he was moved and proud of the friendly activities of UMSU alumni journalists—moreover, seeing the development of the campus, which is currently experiencing extraordinary progress.
“I feel proud as an alumnus of UMSU,” he said.
He said the current UMSU is very different from before, especially when he was studying. However, as an alumnus, he feels the educational provision he gets from the campus.
“UMSU alumni who work as journalists really show excellent performance, and nothing sounds like a case,” he said.
