Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) welcomed a delegation of the International Youth Connect Voice program from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) at the Faculty of Economics and Business on Monday (24/11).
The activity served as a platform for international collaboration between the two universities in strengthening students’ competencies at the global level.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Radiman, M.Si. In his remarks, he briefly introduced the profile of UMSU and highlighted the cultural diversity of North Sumatra.
“UMSU has four campuses and is the only university that has obtained MQA recognition or certification of diplomas or degrees from Malaysia,” he stated.
He expressed his pleasure at UiTM’s visit to UMSU and emphasized that the university is very open to academic cooperation, innovation collaboration, as well as cultural exchange.
“We always participate in international activities. This shows that UMSU continues to move forward toward becoming a world-class university,” said Radiman.
The UiTM delegation consisted of 10 students accompanied by two lecturers.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UiTM, Professor Dr. Mohd Afandi Matrami, conveyed his appreciation for UMSU’s warm welcome through a video message and emphasized the importance of international collaboration programs for students.
“This is a very strong collaboration for the future of students in the global arena. This program is very important for students to participate in, and I know that Indonesia has a fascinating diversity of ethnic groups to learn about, one of which can be found at UMSU,” he said.
The event featured cultural performances and presentations from both universities. Dony Pratama (an international student at UMSU) presented the culture and uniqueness of North Sumatra, while Muhammad Hafiz and Siti Zulaika from UiTM introduced UiTM Machang, describing the campus atmosphere as a comfortable learning environment supported by experienced lecturers.

The activity concluded with a discussion session and a group photo, symbolizing the commitment of both universities to strengthening international networks in the fields of education and culture.
