The Moot Court Community of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (KPSH UMSU) held the 5th volume of the Internal Moot Court Competition (IMCC) with the theme’ Corruption Crimes in Electronic KTP Cases’, winning rotating trophies for the Dean of the Faculty of Law UMSU. The competition’s opening was held on Wednesday (9/2) at the UMSU Auditorium – Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan City.
KPSH UMSU is an academic community engaged and oriented toward procedural law and moot court. At the same time, the Internal Moot Court Competition (IMCC) is an annual competition held by KPSH UMSU as a forum for law students to provide a basis and deepening related to moot court and procedural law. This annual competition has been held since 2012. Unfortunately, it was stopped in 2020-2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but was successfully held again with 9 teams of law students participating.
The IMCC competition was opened directly by Vice Rector I UMSU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, M.Hum, and attended by Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Law UMSU Zainuddin SHMH and his staff, Head of Department of Youth and Sport, Mr. Budi Syaputra, M.Si, representing the WB Military Commander 1 Colonel Eric Cristian Simanjuntak, SH, MH, Medan District Court Judge Yus Sumaryono, KPK Public Prosecutor Muhammad Takdir Suhan, MH, Chairman of UMSU KPSH Abrar Makmur NST, Chairman of the Faturahman Panjaitan Committee, Medan City KPSH as well as alums and seniors of the Faculty of Law.
Vice Rector I of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, M.Hum, who had the opportunity to open this competition, gave an introduction and message to the participants who will compete, “Legal experts say that the law is never enforced in Indonesia. Unfortunately, legal experts say the perfect crime is a crime wrapped by the law itself. Therefore, through this IMCC, participants must pay attention and know well. Don’t make mistakes in punishing because, with wrong legal arguments, the results will also be wrong,” said Arifin in giving directions.
The newly inaugurated professor also hopes that IMCC activities can be practiced in the participants’ daily lives and not forget the existence of legal argumentation or legal reasoning because any law proposed without valid legal reason can mislead the law.
Meanwhile, Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Law UMSU, Mr. Zainuddin SH., MH, greet the participants who compete and the organizing committee, “Losing is certain; winning is a choice. Congratulations to all participants, the competition, and the committee who have successfully held the competition.”
