Students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FISIP UMSU) continue to make achievements. The academic and student creativity (MBKM) implemented by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and the fields of art and talent.

This time, a student of the Social Welfare Study Program (Kessos) on behalf of Muhammad Rafly Dalimunthe succeeded in becoming the North Sumatran Art Son 2022.

With this achievement classified as a talent field, he is also entitled to become the 2022 North Sumatran Arts Ambassador, who will later compete nationally. “Alhamdulillah, I was elected and appointed as the Son of the Arts of North Sumatra and then automatically became a finalist to represent North Sumatra in the election of the Sons of Arts throughout Indonesia in 2022,” he said when conveying this result to the Head of Social Welfare Study Program Mujahiddin, S.Sos , MSP.

Rafli said this competition was the first-year event organized by the Salaka Art Studio in Bogor. This election event aims to find young generations who care about preserving and maintaining the arts and culture in Indonesia, especially North Sumatra.

Sanggar Seni Salaka is the official owner of the license for this event. Through Decree No. 028/SSS-PPKSI/II/2022, it is stated that Muhammad Rafly Dalimunthe has been crowned the Son of the Arts of North Sumatra Province in 2022. He was also declared a Finalist for the Indonesian Arts Puteri in 2022.

In the selection process as the Son of the Arts, Rafli presented the customs and arts of the Mandailing ethnicity. He made this choice because his ethnic background is Mandailing, so there is a desire to introduce or promote Mandailing businesses to the Indonesian people.

“I introduced the Mandailing art and culture, which happened to be my background from there. So the jury did see my ability and potential in presenting it so that I was chosen to be the North Sumatran Art Son in 2022,” he said again.

The Head of the Social Welfare Study Program FISIP UMSU, Mujahiddin S.Sos MSP expressed his gratitude for the achievements achieved by Muhammad Rafly Dalimunthe and hoped that Rafly could continue to make further achievements at the national level. “Congratulations to Rafly for his achievements, and hopefully, he can continue to produce many achievements considering he is a student still in semester 2. There is still a lot of time to produce other achievements while a student at FISIP UMSU,” he said.

Deputy Dean III for student affairs, Yurisna Tanjung, who continues to provide support, positively welcomes Rafly’s achievements. “This proves that FISIP UMSU students can excel in the arts and talents. We are delighted. In the academic field, it is okay. In non-academic fields such as art and talent, it is okay,” he concluded.
