The 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah Held 2 Stages, Online and Offline
General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed., said that the Muktamar Muhammadiyah would be held in two stages. The first phase will take place online on November 5, 2022. Meanwhile, the second phase will be offline from November 19-20, 2022, with the UMS Edutorium as the activity center.
This was revealed by Abdul Muti Friday (4/11) at the Muhammadiyah University Edutorium Surakarta,
Seeing this, Muti revealed that this was the first time that the Muktamar Muhammadiyah was held online and offline. Previously, the 48th Congress had to be postponed for two years because the Covid-19 case was very high then, and only in 2022 has it decreased so that it is possible to hold the Conference offline.
Even so, as emphasized by Muti, the Covid – 19 pandemic, even though the graph of cases is sloping, is still not over. “The Muhammadiyah Central Executive first held this offline and online Congress. The consideration is that we are still in a pandemic atmosphere. This pandemic is not over yet, so do not ignore it,” said Muti.
In the first stage, the main agenda was listening to the responses from the congress participants on the material that PP Muhammadiyah had prepared. Materials for the Congress include PP Muhammadiyah reports for the 2015 – 2020/2022 period, the Muhammadiyah program for the 2022 – 2027 period, the treatise on Progressive Islam, and strategic issues for the ummah, nationality, and universal humanity.
“We have sent all the materials to the congress participants in two forms: soft files via email and print. God willing, the materials have been received by each congress member,” said Muti.
Regarding the technical aspects of delivering responses, representatives from Muhammadiyah Regional Leaders throughout Indonesia and autonomous organizations (Ortom) at the central level, such as Muhammadiyah Youth, Nasyiatul ‘Aisyiyah, Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM), Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), Tapak Suci, and Hizbul Wathan.
There are around 208 points from 34 provinces throughout Indonesia which are the locations for this first stage of the Muhammadiyah Congress. Muti also explained several strategic issues that would later be discussed in the first stage of this Congress, including 1) Community issues, including the phenomenon of a regime of religious understanding, building digital piety, strengthening people’s unity, and reforming Islamic philanthropic governance. 2) National issues include strengthening family resilience, reforming the electoral system, leadership succession in 2024, evaluating deradicalization policies, strengthening legal justice, arranging public spaces that are inclusive and fair, strengthening regulations on disaster resilience systems, anticipating an aging population, and strengthening national integration. 3) Universal humanitarian issues include building a peaceful and just world order, regulating the impact of climate change, overcoming inequalities between countries, and strengthening xenophobia.
“That is, among other things, an overview of the material at the Muktamar which tomorrow will be given responses by members of the Muktamar from representatives of the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah and Ortom at the central level,” concluded Muti while mentioning that this material wanted nothing but to advance Indonesia and enlighten the universe.
