The team from the Observatory of Islamic Astronomy (OIF) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara conducted a qibla direction measurement and determination for the planned construction of the Fairuz Ad-Dalimi Mosque on Jalan Lintas Padang–Medan, Jorong Beringin, Nagari Lansek Kadok Barat, Rao Selatan District, Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, Tuesday (February 10).
This activity was carried out in response to an official request from the Tarbiyatul Qur’an Al Islam Foundation. The qibla measurement was conducted using a theodolite, applying observational methods and calculations based on the Sun’s positional data.
The measurement was led by the Head of the OIF UMSU, Dr. Arwin Juli Rakhmadi Butar-Butar, M.A., accompanied by Hariyadi Putraga.
