The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, held the third international conference on sustainable agriculture by presenting speakers from Japan, India, and Malaysia.
The conference, which was held in a hybrid manner (online and offline), was opened by the Rector represented by Deputy Rector I of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, SH. M Hum, Tuesday (29/11). “Congratulations on holding the 3rd international conference on sustainable agriculture, which is expected to provide insights and solutions regarding the development of sustainable agriculture,” he said.
According to Prof. Arifin international conference is important as a forum for sharing knowledge and experience with the speakers. Therefore, UMSU certainly supports international activities as a commitment to improving the quality of teaching, research, and community service.
Previously, the Dean F of Agriculture, Dafni Mawar Tarigan, SP, MSI, revealed that the international conference on sustainable agriculture was an annual activity. Through this event, it is hoped that ideas will be born that can be a solution for the development of sustainable agriculture for the future of the next generation.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Committee, Bunga Raya Ketaren, Sp, MSc, revealed that this event presented speakers, namely Dr. Yukinobu Ishowa from Japan, Dr. K. Sivakumar from India, Prof. Muhammad Basyuni S. Hut, M.Si from Indonesia, and Associate Prof. Dr. Siti Sahara Sakimin from Malaysia. Conference participants came from five major islands in Indonesia: 9 universities from Sumatra, six from Java, 1 Kalimantan, one from Sulawesi and East Indonesia, and ten from BRIN. International participants came from the Philippines and Malaysia.
