The Chairman of the Central Leadership R&D Council of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Lincolin Arsyad, Ph.D., officially inaugurated Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, evolves Rector of UMSU for the 2022-2024 period. The inauguration was held on Tuesday (24/5) at the UMSU Auditorium – Jl. Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan City.
UMSU’s Rector Prof. Agussani stated in the Decree of the Central Leadership Muhammadiyah, which was read by the Secretary of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah R&D Council, Muhammad Sayuti, Ph.D. The decree stated that Prof Agussani was given a unique mandate and responsibility to lead the cadre.
Muhammadiyah Chairman, Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nasir, M.Si said that Agussani was fully appointed with high organizational and mental accountability and from various considerations. However, the primary concern is the foundation, direction, and acceleration that Prof. Agussani can accomplish in carrying out his mandate.
“We certainly say congratulations on carrying out the mandate. We believe that in continuing the mandate from the previous leadership, the results are collective and organizational with BPH, Region leaders of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah, the Government, and various institutions,” as stated by Haedar Nasir. He explained that three things became the principles of the Muhammadiyah movement: progress, modernity, and professionalism. We must be able to face new situations in digital systems, online systems, and social media. Still, we must be able to use the new space and system with complete civility for the advancement of civilization, not just for euphoria.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, reported on the progress of UMSU from year to year, especially in 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic hampered growth in all aspects. However, UMSU continues progressing, as shown by its new face through infrastructure.
“What we say, of course, we report UMSU assets starting in 2010 in difficult times having 21 billion debts. But, with our steps and commitment, we are trying to work hand in hand so that UMSU immediately gets out of this problem,” said Prof. Agussani.
He said that UMSU already has 3 Excellent Study Programs with Institutional Accreditation A. He said what UMSU achieved could not be separated from the synergy of Muhammadiyah. So, UMSU is committed to keeping trying and racing to follow the programs given by the Muhammadiyah Central Executive.
“Alhamdulillah, under the guidance of the Chairman of the Central Leadership R&D Council of Muhammadiyah, UMSU has won four QS Stars. We thank you in advance for the guidance so far and the extraordinary encouragement,” said Prof. Agussani.
Besides the Four QS Stars, UMSU has an integrated campus field in Sampali covering an area of 21.8 hectares. In addition, UMSU renovated a world-class Faculty of Medicine infrastructure.
“This year, UMSU accepts 6 foreign students from China who are at the UMSU Faculty of Medicine as part of the international program,” stated Agussani.
The person in charge of LLDIKTI-I North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Hajar, M.Si, appreciated UMSU’s commitment to encouraging lecturers to become Associate Professors and Professors. “The barometer is not only the building but the performance, but I am pleased to see the Rector’s road maps to build Human Resources,” Ibnu Hajar said. Ibnu Hajar expected that UMSU could be more concerned and consistent in building a university, especially its human resources. Then, UMSU can become a center of excellence, especially in private universities in North Sumatra, implement multi-disciplinary cooperation, carry out character development and personality traits, and be a motto for change.
