The Rector of the University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, was officially installed as one of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Malay Scholars Association (PB ISMI) during the Inauguration and National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of PB ISMI for the 2025–2030 term, held on Saturday, 28 June, at the Balai Serindit Hall, Riau Governor’s Complex, Pekanbaru.
The installation was attended by several prominent national and regional figures, including the Governor of the Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, the Head of the Provincial Office of Home Affairs and Political Affairs of Riau, and the Chairman of the Malay Customary Council (LAM) of Riau, Datuk Seri Raja Marjohan Yusuf. Also present at the event were the Chairman of the PB ISMI Advisory Board, Tun Rahmatsyah, the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Tengku Ery Nuradi, and the Chairman of the Expert Council, Johar Arifin Husein.
Additionally, several regional heads joined in celebrating this significant moment, such as the Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang, Lom Lom Suwondo, S.S., and the Deputy Regent of Serdang Bedagai, H Adlin Umar Yusri Tambunan, ST, M.SP. Also present were the Chairman of the PB MABMI, Prof. Dr. OK Saidin, SH, M.Hum, and the Chairman of the PB ISMI, Nizhamul SE, MM.
This event marks an important milestone in strengthening the role of Malay intellectuals in national development, particularly in fostering cultural and national values.
The inauguration of the PB ISMI executive board and advisors also marks the beginning of the organisation’s five-year work programme.
The appointment of UMSU Rector Prof. Agusssani as a Board Advisor is expected to strengthen the contribution of academics in developing the potential and presence of the Malay community across various fields.
