UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani M.AP, received the 9th Windu of Independence Award of the Republic of Indonesia. The award was handed over directly by the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, at the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Medan, Friday (11/3).
This award from the Regional Daily Council of the 45 North Sumatra Cultural Culture Agency (DHD 45) is a form of concern and gratitude to all freedom fighters and leaders after independence. These figures from across professions and backgrounds are considered worthy because they have contributed to the struggle and positively contributed to building North Sumatra.
The award and awarding of the 9th Windu of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia Championship Medal was given to the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, and to former Governors, Mayors, Regents, University Rectors, and North Sumatran Community Leaders.
Governor of Sumatera Utara Edy Rahmayadi told the award recipients to continue to inspire and be positive role models for our young generation to remain enthusiastic in advancing North Sumatra.
The Rector of UMSU Receives the 9th Windu of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. “This is a form of our gratitude to our teachers and parents for all the sacrifices carried out by the fighters, and we are only continuing the struggle of our seniors,” he said.
Furthermore, the Governor of North Sumatra expressed his wish for North Sumatra to be dignified and number one out of 34 other provinces in Indonesia. Therefore, we hope that the experienced DHD 45 Honorary Councils can help me build a more dignified North Sumatra,” said Edy, the North Sumatra DHD 45 Honorary Council Chairman.
The Rector of UMSU Receives the 9th Windu of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia Meanwhile, the Chairman of North Sumatra’s DHD45 Major General TNI (Ret.) Muhammad Hasyim, on that occasion, said that caring for the spirit of struggle must constantly be inflamed in the entire community by cultivating the spirit of independence. This spirit and sense of nationalism must be continuously nurtured and maintained to preserve the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
According to him, the spirit of struggle that must be done is to maintain the site of the struggle as a form of national memory due to the battle. This is important considering the challenges faced are getting bigger in line with the rapid changes and developments in various aspects of life.
