The UMSU Rector Supports Karate Student-Athletes Competing in Thailand
The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agusaani, MAP, accompanied by the Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, bid farewell to and supported 9 UMSU Karate athletes competing in the Open Karate Championship in Thailand. The farewell event took place on Friday, September 1st, at the Wall of Fame on UMSU’s Muchtar Basri No.3 Street campus in Medan.
Students from the Karate Student Activity Unit (UKM Karate) will be competing at the Sports Institution of Rangsit University in Pathum Thani, Bangkok, Thailand from September 6th to 11th, 2023. This international karate competition is not the first time UMSU’s athletes and students have participated in such an event.
Previously, UMSU’s Karate athletes had successfully won gold medals in Malaysia and Thailand. Unlike the previous year, this year, one of UMSU’s new students, who is also a karate athlete, will be participating in the international karate competition.
During this occasion, the UMSU Rector showed his support for the students who were departing to compete in Thailand. He expressed his pride and hopes that the athletes would give their best performance.
“Congratulations to all of you who will be participating in the international karate competition in Thailand. Stay focused and confident, and may you achieve the best results,” Prof. Agusaani conveyed.
Furthermore, Vice Rector III of UMSU, Dr. Rudianto, extended a warm welcome to Aji Nugraha Alamsyah Hasibuan, a new student of the Faculty of Law.
“We are grateful to be able to participate in international events, especially in karate tournaments. We are fortunate to be part of UMSU, which provides support and encouragement to its students,” Dr. Rudianto stated.
He emphasized that all forms of creativity at UMSU are highly valued, not just in terms of achievements but also in the process. According to him, among the Student Activity Units (UKM), the Karate UKM is the most commendable due to its outstanding achievements.
Finally, the Head of the Karate UKM and a student of UMSU’s Faculty of Engineering, Muhammad Rian Fauzan, represented the athletes and expressed gratitude to the university for its support and facilities.
“We express our gratitude to UMSU for facilitating and guiding us. We hope to achieve even better results in this championship than we did in the past,” Fauzan said.
UMSU, as an accredited and outstanding university, is highly committed to the education of its athletes, offering scholarships and other programs to athletes who wish to continue their studies at the university.
Present at this farewell event were UMSU Rector Prof. Agusaani, Vice Rector III UMSU Dr. Rudianto, Head of Bimawa UMSU Radiman, S.E., M.Si, and 9 athletes, namely Yudha Arya Wiguna (The Faculty of Law), Maxmiliano Efendi (The Faculty of Economy and Business), Muhammad Rian Fauzan (The Faculty of Engineering), Nasywa Maydina Pulungan (The Faculty of Social Science and Politics), Hanifsyah Siregar (The Faculty of Economy and Business), Aji Nugraha Alamsyah Hasibuan (The Faculty of Law), Neo Zhanjibar (The Faculty of Economy and Business), Nicky Dwi Oktari Putri Isyelda (The Faculty of Law), and Reza Mahendra (The Faculty of Economy and Business).
