Three teams from UMSU secured significant victories, bagging two silver medals and one favorite champion title at the esteemed 36th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) held at Padjadjaran University in Bandung on Saturday (2/12).
The commendable medal haul and the prestigious favorite champion title propelled UMSU to the 25th spot among 106 Indonesian state and private universities, surpassing Padjadjaran University in Bandung.
The silver medals were earned in the Student Creativity Program for Community Service (PKM-PM) poster categories and Social Humanities Research (PKM-RSH). Additionally, the favorite champion title was secured in the Exact Research scheme presentation category (PKM-RE).
Expressing his gratitude, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, the Rector, praised the students for their outstanding performance in this event.
“Alhamdulillah, this achievement is indeed a reason for gratitude. It’s the result of collaborative efforts. Congratulations to all students who showcased their utmost potential at PIMNAS 36,” stated the UMSU Rector.
Prof. Agussani also hoped that this achievement would serve as motivation for sustaining such programs, benefiting both society and the nation.
Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, echoed similar sentiments, offering his highest praise to the students who competed in this prestigious event.
“Hearty congratulations to all UMSU students for this remarkable achievement. The success achieved is a testament to the prayers and collaboration among students and the University,” remarked Rudianto.
According to Dr. Rudianto, this accomplishment underscores UMSU’s steadfast commitment to providing moral and material support to all participating students across various events.
“Right from the outset, UMSU has consistently offered support, starting from submitting PKM proposals to participation in PIMNAS,” explained Dr. Rudianto.
During the four-day PIMNAS 36 event from November 26-30, 2023, at Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor, West Java, UMSU presented seven teams. The event witnessed the participation of 525 teams comprising 2,411 students from 106 state and private universities nationwide.
The three triumphant UMSU teams included PKM PM-3, which clinched a silver poster medal titled “Light Garden: Ecocity-Tourism Based on Green Energy and Zero Waste System, Efforts to Transform Slums in Sangar Anak Deli River,” led by Adrian Hariady Napitupulu.
Following suit was the PKM RSH-4 team, securing a silver poster medal for “Masojid ni boru: A form of gender-responsive local wisdom as an anti-thesis of patriarchal culture in ethnic Batak Angkola,” chaired by Zayyan Ramadhanti.
Lastly, the PKM-RE team earned the Favorite Champion Presentation award for “Effectiveness of Durian Skin (Durio Zibethinus) as a Stimulator of Apoptosis Bcl-2 Pathway: In Viro Immunocytochemical Studies on Cervical Cancer Hela cells,” chaired by Ainur Rofiq.
