The leadership of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara held an official meeting with Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail at Istana Arau on Sunday (May 3).
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the UMSU Board of Trustees Agussani, UMSU Rector Akrim, Rector of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia Saidul Amin, along with Rudianto, Muhammad Qorib, Mutholib, Faisal, Kamarudin Bin Husin, and the Chairman of MAIP Perlis.
During the meeting, UMSU proposed several strategic cooperation initiatives, particularly in strengthening Malay cultural values. One of the key proposals discussed was the establishment of a “Perlis Corner” at UMSU as a center for information, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration between UMSU and Perlis.
UMSU also presented plans to establish the Faizudin Centre and invited the Raja Muda of Perlis to attend the International Seminar Next d Int, scheduled to take place in Medan in September 2026.
On the same occasion, UMSU shared updates regarding the development of its campus, which is planned to become the venue for the 49th Muhammadiyah Congress.
The Raja Muda of Perlis welcomed the proposed collaborations and encouraged stronger cooperation between UMSU and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, particularly in education and academic development.
In addition to cultural and educational cooperation, the Raja Muda of Perlis emphasized the importance of partnerships in semiconductor technology, engineering, and information technology. He noted that such collaborations are essential to support human resource development and future technological advancement.
The Raja Muda of Perlis also expressed appreciation for UMSU’s leadership regeneration process, growing reputation, and ongoing campus development. He further encouraged UMSU to expand its collaborative network with other universities in Perlis, including Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
During the meeting, the Raja Muda of Perlis also expressed his pride as an alumnus who received an Honorary Doctorate (Dr. Hc.) from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in 2025.
