The Faculty of Law at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FH UMSU) once again held the prestigious Internal Moot Court Competition (IMCC) Volume VIII, which was officially opened on Tuesday (21/7) at the UMSU Auditorium, Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.
The competition runs for five days, from July 22–26, 2025, competing for two prestigious trophies from the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office and the Dean of FH UMSU.
The event opened solemnly, officiated directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faisal, S.H., M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of practical legal training through moot court simulations.
“This competition is not just a contest, but also a strategic platform for shaping the character and competencies of future law enforcers who are professional and full of integrity,” said Dr. Faisal in his remarks.
In addition to the moot court competition, IMCC Volume VIII also featured a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) addressing current legal enforcement issues in Indonesia. The speakers included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adi Mansar, S.H., M.Hum., a criminal law expert, and senior lecturer Dr. Flora Nainggolan, S.H., M.Hum., an academic and social justice advocate.
This FGD served as a space for deep reflection and legal education for students to understand the importance of integrity in legal practice, especially amid the challenges of national social and legal changes.

The complete criminal court simulation of IMCC Volume VIII involved various teams of students from different academic years at the FH UMSU, competing in a comprehensive simulation—from investigation to verdict announcement. This activity was coordinated by the Moot Court Community (KPS) of FH UMSU as the main organizer.
Rahmat Hakim Siregar, Chair of KPS FH UMSU, stated that IMCC is not just a test of technical skills but also a means to instill values of justice, discipline, and professionalism in law students.
With a spirit of competition and a strong educational atmosphere, IMCC Volume VIII is a true representation of FH UMSU’s commitment to developing legal education grounded in practice, research, and Islamic values. It is hoped that this event will produce a resilient, capable generation of young jurists ready to uphold justice in society.

Also present at the event were Vice Dean I Dr. Zainuddin, S.H., M.H., and Vice Dean III Dr. Atikah Rahmi, S.H., M.H., along with several prominent figures from law enforcement institutions in North Sumatra, including representatives from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office (Ahmad Hayyu Wali), Kodim 0201/Medan (Captain Inf. Sugino), and Medan Metropolitan Police (AKP Ahmad Albar).
Their presence strengthens the synergy between academics and legal practitioners in shaping a new generation ready to enter the legal field professionally.
