In the context of Eid al-Fitr, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held a big family gathering of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra and the UMSU academic community. Held directly at the UMSU Auditorium – Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No. 3 – Medan, Saturday (28/5).
The event also invites the Central Executive Chairman Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Khamad, M.Si, Founder of the Asia Muslim Charity Foundation (AMCF) Dubai. Sheikh Mohammad MT Al-Khoory, North Sumatera Muhammadiyah Regional Leader (PWM), Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution MA, Leaders of the Assembly, Institutions, and Autonomous and UMSU academics.
On this occasion, UMSU Chancellor Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, expressed deep condolences to Muhammadiyah figure, Buya Syafii Maarif, and the parents of Vice Rector II UMSU Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd. “Hopefully, Allah SWT will place it properly and by the dedication so far,” said Prof Agussani.
Furthermore, Prof. Agussani explained it related to the achievements of UMSU that have been achieved so far. “We are grateful that it is in line with the infrastructure program. In this activity, we convey the results of UMSU’s achievements,” said Prof Agussani when reporting the UMSU achievements.
In Student Creativity Week (PKM) funding in 2022, UMSU is ranked first among universities with the most budget for PKM proposals at the private university level in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah Colleges (PTM) in Indonesia, private university throughout LLDIKTI-I, and Ranked 12 at the State and Private University level in Indonesia.
As Prof. Agussani appreciated, “of course, this is in line with the performance and content of our students. Alhamdulillah, our students have competitiveness with universities in Indonesia.”
UMSU has also become one of Muhammadiyah Central Leadership and AMCF to carry out da’wah in the education field, which began collaborating in 2015. The collaboration is in the form of Ma’had Abu Ubaidah, which is integrated with FAI UMSU.
In addition, UMSU also reported achievements in the form of ranking from the QS ranking by getting 4 stars internationally.
“Let’s pray for all of us; honor and achievement are ours. If we have to talk nationally and internationally. Our goal is to enter and be perched in the international world,” said Prof Agussani. Then he also conveyed other developments such as opening a new study program for Masters in Biomedical, which has received a permit, and the Bachelor Study Program in Astrology, which is currently being processed.
“We thank for UMSU achievements cannot be separated from the conducive atmosphere of the union. UMSU’s stakeholders is Muhammadiyah,” said Prof Agussani. Responding to this achievement, the Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership, Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, MA, expects UMSU to be with Muhammadiyah secondary schools. Prof. Hasyimsyah, “Hopefully, UMSU will continue to advance from A to Superior. High school schools can also be more advanced in the future.”
He gives advice related to ease, that Allah provides ease without difficulty. Suppose you want something more significant and functional and leave things behind. In that case, there need to be difficulties meaning a lot of sacrifices, dedication, loyalty, being solemn, and providing genuine service.
Then, related to the collaboration with AMCF, the founder from Dubai, Dr. Sheikh Mohammad MT Al-Khoory, said that Muhammadiyah became an organization that attracted attention to cooperate in distributing aid.
“Alhamdulillah, among the Ma’had programs running throughout Indonesia, 19 students are collaborating with Muhammadiyah. The progress and success of Ma’had (education services) are due to the good management of Muhammadiyah University, especially in Makassar and Medan,” said Sheikh Mohammad.
This gathering was continued with a brief tausiyah (religion activities) from the Central Executive Chairman Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Khamad, M.Si. He gave tausiyah related to patience, honesty, and trust. “Patience is a part of life, including the inhabitants of Paradise, being patient and honest. Therefore, Muhammadiyah people on moderate are honest,” he said. Prof. Dadang said that UMSU was great because it was led by honest people. Then regarding honesty, he said that dishonesty is an extraordinary hazard in Islam. (Pny)
