Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) inaugurated five professors at the UMSU Campus Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan, Wednesday (12/1).
The five professors are Prof. Widia Astuti, S.E., M.Si, Prof. Dr Fajar Pasaribu, S.E., M.Si, Prof. Dr Ir Alridiwirsah, M.M, Prof. Dr Jufrizen, S.E., M.Si and Prof. Dr Maya Sari, S.E., M.Si. The married couples are Prof Widia and Prof Fajar and Prof Jufrizen and Prof Maya.
This inauguration is the most in the history of UMSU, currently UMSU has 24 professors.
UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP expressed his happiness for the inauguration of the professors. He said, this was a special inauguration starting from the scientific oration and history of the inaugurated professors.
‘Interestingly, of the five professors who were inaugurated today, four of them are alumni and they took part from zero to become professors at UMSU and there are two pairs who are husband and wife,’ said Prof. Agussani.
‘Prof. Widia Astuti, S.E., M.Si and her husband Prof. Dr. Fajar Pasaribu, S.E., M.Si met while still students at UMSU until they became lecturers and today both are inaugurated as professors. Likewise Prof. Jufrizen and Prof. Maya who also became a married couple starting from their meeting at the UMSU Campus, ‘he said.
The Rector of UMSU said that the birth of professors would bring the UMSU campus to be better in the future.
‘Alhamdulillah, the strength of the professors we have today is 24. Of course we are trying to improve in order to maintain the quality of UMSU,’ he said.
He also said that he would continue to motivate lecturers to continue their higher education.
‘By the end of 2025, we aim to have 30 professors. We hope that LLDIKTI region 1 will continue to provide guidance and direction,’ hoped Prof Agussani.
He also hopes that after the inauguration, UMSU professors will continue to work and implement their knowledge for society and universities.
‘At least 1 publication in Scopus can be published every year,’ said Prof Agussani.
On this occasion, Prof Agussani also reported that PWM North Sumatra and UMSU as the host of the Congress had made progress on the construction of the auditorium at the Sampali Integrated Campus in Deli Serdang. He conveyed that 450 piles had been planted in the Congress arena.
In the inauguration procession of UMSU Professors, the Head of LLDIkti Region 1 North Sumatra, Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D. was also present.
Saiful congratulated the inaugurated professors. According to him, this achievement is not an easy process, it takes a long time.
‘In the past, most professors were lecturers from DPK civil servants. Now the constellation has changed, the biggest ones are foundation lecturers, with 80 people becoming professors,’ he said.
The Head of LLDikti Region 1 also said that UMSU is the PTS in North Sumatra with the largest number of professors and superior study programmes reaching 18 study programmes.
‘I hope that what the professor said in his scientific oration can be implemented in strengthening the government’s food and economic self-sufficiency programme. Help rural communities and MSMEs,’ he said.

1. Prof Widia Astuti, S.E., M.Si
Prof Widia Astuti, S.E., M.Si was appointed as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business in the field of Accounting. This determination is based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7389lM/0712023 as of 1 December 2023.
In the inaugural series, Prof Widia delivered her scientific oration on Accuracy and Efficiency: Exploring Influential Factors in the Implementation of Management Accounting Information Systems in the Digital Era.
2. Prof. Dr Fajar Pasaribu, S.E., M.Si
Prof. Dr Fajar Pasaribu, S.E., M.Si was appointed as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business in the field of Management Science. This determination is based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1560 / M / 07 / 2024 as of 30 October 2023.
In the inauguration ceremony, Prof Fajar delivered his scientific oration on Foreign Strategies to Master the Indonesian Golden Economy 2045.
3. Prof. Dr. Ir. Alridiwirsah, M.M.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Alridiwirsah, M.M was appointed as a Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture UMSU in the field of Agricultural and Plantation Cultivation. This determination is based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 140135 / M / 07 / 2024 as of 1 December 2024.
In the inaugural series, Prof. Alri delivered his scientific oration on Optimisation of Oil Palm Land: Application of Alri 2:1 Model to Support Food Security.
4. Prof. Dr. Jufrizen, S.E., M.Si
Prof. Dr. Jufrizen, S.E., M.Si was appointed as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU in the field of Management Science. This determination is based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3060/E4/KP/GB/2023 as of 01 January 2024.
In the inaugural series, Prof. Jufrizen delivered his scientific oration on Building a Sustainable Future The Role of Green Human Resource Management and Green Behaviour in Facing Environmental Challenges.
5. Prof. Dr. Maya Sari, S.E., M.Si
Prof. Dr. Maya Sari, S.E., M.Si was appointed as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU in the field of Accounting.
