The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, was a speaker at the Public Dialogue event organized by the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters on Thursday (13/2) at the Emerald Garden Hotel, Medan.
This event carries the theme “Weaving Diversity with Strengthening National Values for the Youth of North Sumatra Towards Golden Indonesia,” featuring several speakers from various backgrounds.
The event was opened directly by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Pol. Dr. H. Sandi Nugroho, S.I.K., S.H., M.Hum, represented by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, S.I.K.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP presented material titled “Strategies for Welcoming Golden Indonesia with Creative and Cultural Young Generations.” He emphasized that the younger generation, especially Generation Z, must be well-prepared to face the demographic bonus and become leaders in the future.

“Of course, talking about the golden generation, Indonesia will experience a demographic bonus, and Gen Z now will become the leaders in the future.” Therefore, they must be well-prepared,” said Prof. Agussani.
Furthermore, Prof. Agussani shared strategies based on his experience as a rector by highlighting the role of higher education institutions in shaping an excellent generation through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
According to him, education must be able to adapt to the changing times in order to remain relevant. Education becomes the main pillar of human resource development, so it needs to be prepared from an early age, starting from the beginning of entering the education level.
“The role of higher education institutions must be sustainable.” Good education will produce an excellent generation. We prepare from the very beginning of entering college (PKKMB) by presenting relevant figures to instill values and foster a sense of nationalism and insight. In addition, it also provides a platformfor the development of students’ interests and talents to hone their potential and creativity,” he said.

Furthermore, the younger generation must be continuously encouraged and motivated to maximize their potential, interests, and talents. For that, collaboration across all sectors and lines is needed.
“If not guided and collaborated well, that potential will be wasted.” In fact, many students who graduate should also be able to become successful entrepreneurs with support from the government,” he said.

The UMSU Rector hopes that this public dialogue can be part of the collaboration to create an excellent generation by 2045.
Previously, the Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, S.I.K., in his speech, emphasized the importance of strengthening national values in facing future challenges towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
“The younger generation is an agent of change that not only possesses intellectual intelligence but also strong moral and character.” “The roles of education, family, and society are crucial in shaping them,” said Brigadier General Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, S.I.K.
Brigadier General Pol Trunoyudo hopes that this discussion can produce various concrete steps to strengthen unity and tolerance, while still prioritizing the principle of social justice reflected in the values of Pancasila.
In the event, there were several speakers, namely:
The Chief of North Sumatra Police, Inspector General of Police Whisnu Hermawan Februanto, S.I.K., M.H., represented by the Acting Head of Public Relations of North Sumatra Police, Commissioner of Police Yudhi Surya Markus Pinem, S.I.K., M.H., discussed “North Sumatra Police’s Strategy in Maintaining Public Order and Security.”
Sociologist and Cultural Expert, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Gultom, M.Pd., presented “Strategies for Preserving National Culture by Upholding Pancasila Values in the Era of Generations Y, Z, and Alpha.”
Putra Andika Siagian, S.T., CH., provided motivation regarding “Strengthening Pancasila Values for the Younger Generation.”
This event was attended by students from various universities in North Sumatra, as well as representatives from religious leaders and community organizations (Ormas).
