Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) has delivered educational support equipment to SD Unggulan Muhammadiyah Kutacane in Southeast Aceh as a form of solidarity and support for Muhammadiyah institutions affected by disaster.
The assistance was officially handed over by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP—represented by Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd—to Rachmat Santoso, S.T., Chairman of the Dikdasmen Council of Kutacane, Southeast Aceh. The ceremony took place at the UMSU Campus on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, Thursday (February 5). Prof. Akrim was accompanied by the Head of UMSU’s Public Relations Bureau, the Head of the General Administration Bureau (BAUM), and the Head of the Master’s Program in Communication Studies at UMSU.
Prof. Akrim explained that the assistance followed a directive from Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah, which called on UMSU to provide support to leading Muhammadiyah schools, particularly those located in disaster-affected areas. As part of the Muhammadiyah organization, UMSU bears a moral responsibility to strengthen and support Muhammadiyah charitable and educational institutions across various regions.
“UMSU has provided learning and administrative support equipment, including laptops, projectors, and printers. We hope this assistance will be beneficial and enhance the teaching and learning process at SD Unggulan Muhammadiyah Kutacane,” he stated, while conveying greetings from the Rector to the entire school community.
He also noted that many UMSU alumni come from Kutacane and are now contributing in various professional fields, reflecting the long-standing and close relationship between UMSU and the Kutacane community.
Meanwhile, Rahmat, representing the Dikdasmen Council and SD Unggulan Muhammadiyah Kutacane, expressed gratitude for the attention and support extended by UMSU. He appreciated the university’s swift response and commitment to supporting Muhammadiyah schools in the region.
“Alhamdulillah, we received a very positive response from UMSU. Moving forward, we hope to organize various collaborative programs with UMSU, particularly to enhance the competencies of our teachers,” he said.
He further expressed hope that the synergy between SD Unggulan Muhammadiyah Kutacane and UMSU would continue to grow, paving the way for long-term cooperation, including school development as part of strengthening Muhammadiyah education.
