On Monday (7/8), the online release was conducted by Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, represented by Vice-Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si at Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3 in Medan. Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) released 378 students who passed the Merdeka Student Exchange, and the Campus taught the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) in 2023.
274 students who graduated from Merdeka Students Exchange (PMM) batch 3 attended the release and debriefing, which will be distributed to 60 tertiary institutions and 104 students from the Kampus Mengajar (KM) program batch 6.
Dr. Rudianto explained that PMM and KM were a form of UMSU’s commitment to participating in the MBKM program as a priority program. Moreover, MBKM is the leading work indicator, and UMSU continues encouraging students to participate in MBKM activities.

“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful to be able to return to activities. Today, UMSU specifically released 274 students to participate in the PMM and 104 students to participate in the KM,” said Dr. Rudianto.
Rudianto advised that students can carry out the activities that are their duties and responsibilities properly; through the Kampus Mengajar program, students are expected to be able to learn and have an impact. Then, students participating in the Merdeka Student Exchange can be as inspiring as the tagline “Temporary Exchange, Meaningful Forever.”
Dr. Dewi Kesuma Nasution, M.Hum, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMSU, has also pointed out that most graduates from the Teaching Campus program pursue careers in the Teaching and Education Faculties.

“Later on, the Teaching Campus Program Batch 6 will be held from May to December 2023, adjusting to the odd semester academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academy year,” said Dewi.
The 104 students are divided into 87 students teaching elementary school and 17 students teaching junior high school with teaching activity designs related to literacy, numeracy, and technology adaptation to a cultured environment of numeracy literacy.
Meanwhile, the PMM PIC and Vice Dean II of FKIP UMSU, Dr. Mandra Saragih, S.Pd, M.Hum, said that 274 students who graduated from PMM were spread across 60 tertiary institutions in various regions such as Java, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Papua to Sulawesi. Then, later there will be 87 students from other tertiary institutions (inbound students) who will study at UMSU.
“We hope that students who will go to the destination university will be able to maintain the good name of their alma mater and be good at socializing and coordinating, maintain ethics with lecturers or anyone while at the university where PMM is held,” said Dr. Mandra.

The UMSU campus is an exemplary institution that demonstrates outstanding commitment and activity. It has earned recognition for its exceptional contributions to academic college organizations and student creativity programs. In fact, it was recently awarded the prestigious Merdeka Learning Award by the Ministry of Education and Culture for its remarkable achievements in these areas.
