UMSU Releases 44 Faculty of Agriculture Students for International PKL in Malaysia
UMSU Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, released 44 Faculty of Agriculture students to carry out International Field Work Practices (PKL) in Malaysia. The release was held on Thursday (8/9) at the Faperta UMSU Hall, Muchtar Basri Street No.3 Medan.
At the release ceremony, Vice Rector III UMSU was accompanied by the Dean of Faperta, Dr. Dafni Mawar Tarigan, S.P., M.Si and Vice Dean III Faperta, Akbar Habib, S.P., M.P. Based on a report from the Dean of Faperta, independent International PKL was carried out from September 10-30, 2023 in Malaysia, divided into 2 PKL locations, namely 20 students at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) Kuala Lumpur and 24 students at the University of Terengganu Malaysia (UTM).
Dr. Dafni also said that the 44 students were representatives of 3 study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture, namely 25 Agrotechnology students, 12 Agribusiness students, and 7 Agricultural Product Technology students. Three accompanying lecturers in each location will accompany all students in implementing International PKL.
Vice Rector III UMSU Dr. Rudianto welcomed this activity and appreciated the Faculty of Agriculture’s significant breakthrough. Building international cooperation and immediately sending 44 international PKL students.
“The departure of 44 students is an academic agenda and part of the university in international activities. I think this activity is very on the track and prestigious because the institution that cooperates with us is very competent in its field,” said Rudianto.
He said that MARDI is the most credible research institution in Malaysia. While Terengganu University Malaysia (UTM) is a well-known royal state university in the area.
Vice Rector III UMSU advised that while carrying out International PKL, Faperta students can learn and take as much knowledge as possible. Take notes on important things and even upload them to social media as a portfolio. He also hopes that students will be able to adapt and maintain health.
The Dean of Faperta also reminded that the International PKL activities will be converted into regular KKN courses and final assignments later. Students are expected to take as much knowledge as possible and not make this KKN a vacation because MARDI and UTM have prepared several programs that must be adequately implemented.
The release ended with the symbolic pinning of PKL uniforms by Vice Rector III UMSU, Dean of Faperta, and Vice Dean III Faperta to PKL students. Also present at this release were the Heads of Study Programs in Faperta, International PKL PICs Ira Aprianti S.P M.Si and Riris Nadia Shafrilia Gurning S.P M.SC, UMSU OIC Team, Accompanying Lecturers and 44 students participating in International PKL.
