Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) officially sent off 10 students to participate in a Student Mobility program at INTI International University, Malaysia.
The send-off ceremony was led by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, on Saturday (16/8) at the UMSU VIP Room, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.
Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto expressed his appreciation and encouragement to the selected participants.
“Congratulations to the students who passed the selection. INTI Malaysia is a well-known university with numerous international partners. Being part of the international community will be a valuable experience and can serve as strong preparation for pursuing Master’s studies abroad,” he said.
He further emphasized that internationalization in higher education is a necessity. UMSU itself has been actively engaged in various international events, including the Taiwan Expo attended by 52 universities, where UMSU was the only institution from Medan invited.
“Through this international program, students will gain new experiences and knowledge. We hope INTI can become a stepping stone for students to develop their skills and expand their global networks,” he added.
Program coordinator Eri Yanti NST, S.E., M.Ec, explained that registration opened in June. Out of 43 applicants, only 10 students passed the selection, representing faculties such as the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FIKTI).
“The main requirements included a minimum GPA of 3.0 and proficiency in English. In addition, students have been trained in discipline to ensure they uphold the reputation of UMSU and Indonesia abroad,” she noted.
One of the participants, Parvez Khalid, a Communication Science student, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity.
“Alhamdulillah, we are well-prepared. It wasn’t easy because of several challenges, but with UMSU’s support we can now experience the chance to study in Malaysia,” he said.
